Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure will be completing some testing at the gates of the Portage Diversion Inlet Control Structure from 9 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 and Thursday, June 11, 2026.

During this time there will be no pedestrian or vehicle traffic permitted across the bridge. Only local traffic will be permitted on Yellowquill Trail, south of PTH 1 and on Road 64N, east of Simplot Road (Road 41W). The detour route will include Simplot Road 64N, Simplot Road (Road 41W) and PTH 1.

The Portage la Prairie Fire Department (PFD) reminds residents in the RM of Portage la Prairie to contact the department at 204 239 8340 before and after conducting any controlled burns. Individuals who choose to burn are responsible for any resulting property damage or for obscuring roadways with smoke, and may be subject to fines under the Wildfires Act.

When calling, please provide your name, property address, phone number, and details of the material you plan to burn.

The final decision to light the fire is on YOU. Please use common sense.

Reminder that Applications for Dust Suppression are due Friday, June 5th, 2026. We must receive payment in our office by end of day Friday. Applications will not be accepted after this date.

Applications have been mailed out to those who participated in 2025. If you did not receive your application or wish to have Dust Suppression applied this year you can fill the form out online or come into the office to do so.
