Notice of Blasting – Oakwood Road Pit, Wednesday, June 17 between 10am and 3pm - weather permitting.

Notices will be delivered to residents on Oakwood Road, McCharles Line, Pine Tree Way, and Peever Line (from the 4-way stop to Highway 11).

The blasting crew will temporarily stop traffic and close the road for a short period during the blast only. Normal traffic flow will resume immediately afterward.

June schedule is here! The schedule for July will be up on Wednesday; pool passes including 10 swims, seasonal and family passes will be available at 250 Clark later this week.

Please remember that lifeguards are there to keep you safe.

At the May 19, 2026, Council meeting the follow proclamation was made:

WHEREAS, in 2009, June was declared National Indigenous History month by the passing of a unanimous motion of the House of Commons; and,

WHEREAS, in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples’ national organizations, the Government of Canada designated June 21 as National Indigenous Peoples Day; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Corporation of the Municipality of Powassan does hereby proclaim June 2026 as “National Indigenous History Month” and June 21, 2026, as “National Indigenous Peoples Day” in the Municipality of Powassan and urge all residents to take this opportunity to learn more about the history of the Indigenous peoples in Canada, and to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the Indigenous peoples to our communities and Country.

For seventeen years, our community has come together to honor loved ones and celebrate life’s beauty. This year, we’re making it extra special and inviting you to be part of it! Enjoy the butterfly release along with a charity BBQ, raffle and silent auction, kids’ games, and more.

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. All donations go directly to supporting palliative care, bereavement services, and isolated clients in Nipissing and East Parry Sound.

Just in time for Father’s Day, an event everyone will enjoy! Our very own local Angler and Hunter aficionado, Gerry Giesler, will be hosting Reel Knowledge, an information session for seasoned and novice fishermen on how to catch fish, where to catch fish, what lures to use, what bait to use, you name it, if it’s fish related, Gerry will try to answer it! Gerry brings an enthusiasm to every collaboration he does with us, so don’t miss this first ever Reel Knowledge session, you’ll walk away reeling with new fishing tips and tricks! This event will take place on June 18th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM!

High winds and the possibility of large hail are in the forecast. Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Remember “When thunder roars, go indoors”.
