Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
1. Completion of a recognized Early Childhood Education program
Previous work experience in a licensed childcare program would be an asset
2. Knowledge of ɬaʔamɩn culture and ʔayʔaǰuθəm preferred
Individuals with Indigenous ancestry preferred.
3. Successful Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening
4. Recent TB test
5. Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License and acceptable Driver’s Abstract would be an asset
6. First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
7. Food Safe certification, or willingness to obtain
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
1. Working knowledge of children’s developmental stages from 0 to 6 years of age
2. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to follow directions
4. Ability to work as a positive, flexible, and supportive team member
5. Strong teaching skills
6. Good organizational and time management skills
7. Knowledge of group process and facilitation
Working Conditions
Work will take place primarily in the Nation’s Child Development Resource Centre (CDRC). Physical fitness levels necessary for working with young children (lifting, stooping, crouching, standing, reaching and ability to move quickly to respond to children’s needs) is required.
