Very disappointed that MP Tamara Jansen's Bill C-218, which would have permanently stopped the scheduled expansion of MAID in cases where a mental illness as the sole underlying medical condition, was defeated this afternoon in the House of Commons.

I will vote in favour of my CPC colleague’s Bill C-218 to prevent MAID from being expanded to cases where mental illness is the sole underlying medical condition. I hope that all MPs on both sides of the House vote in favour of this bill. Those suffering form mental illness deserve caring and compassion.

Canadian farmers should be focusing on harvesting their crops, not on how they are going to pay their diesel bill. They need affordable fuel to keep our economy moving.

Attended the 4th annual Truth and Reconciliation walk in Shellbrook this morning. The walk began at WP Sandin High School where students listened to the words of Hugh Merasty and others. A community barbecue will begin at 11:45 am. Donations will be accepted.

More than 40 countries - Canada and its allies - have sanctions against Belarus for supporting war criminal Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Buying blood potash from Belarus is supporting Russian aggression.

It’s wrong and it doesn’t make sense.

All of that potash has to be shipped first through Russia, then across the ocean, then across the US to mid-western farmers.

Does anyone believe Belarusian blood potash shipped through Russia is going to be more affordable, more sustainable or more ethical than potash shipped from Saskatchewan - right here in North America?

Over the past few years, I have been very clear. Strengthening supply and value chains will not be easy. But for economic security and growth, it is vital.

This is why I commend former Prime Ministers Stephen Harper and Jean Chrétien for putting aside partisan politics to regain the foreign investment deficiency Canada experienced for 10 years under Justin Trudeau. Canada has what the world wants. We need investment to unlock our economic potential.

Congratulations as well to Premier Scott Moe for bringing $50 billion in Bell investment to Saskatchewan.
