Gillian Burnett for SD57 School Trustee I'm running for School Trustee in School District 57, Prince George Who am I? First and foremost, I’m a wife and mother of 2. Why am I running?

I hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from UNBC and work as a Financial Controller, so I’m no stranger to budgets and fiscally responsible financial decisions. I’ve also been a parent advocate for more than 12 years. I’ve been an executive member of the Nukko Lake and Shas Ti Kelly Road School PACs, the District Parent Advisory Council and from 2017-2021 with the BC Confederation of Parent A

dvisory Councils. This past year, I was the recipient of the George Mathews Award, which recognizes Excellence in Parent Leadership. I’m hoping to continue some of the advocacy work and make a positive contribution to public education here in Prince George. It’s a natural next step for me. My daughter has already graduated, and my son is currently in grade 11, so my time as a parent advocate is closing and I still have more to offer. What do I hope to accomplish? At the end of the day, all any of us can ask is that we leave having made a positive difference; having left things better than we found them. I have is a strong belief in our public education system to contribute to the betterment of society for future generations. The more informed we are, the better decisions we make.
