Better at Home Housekeeper (Casual Contractor – Two-Month Term)
Location: Prince George, BC
Contract Term: Two Months (Casual Contract)
Hours: Up to 30 hours per week, based on client demand
Reports to: Better at Home Program Coordinator
About the Prince George Council of Seniors
The Prince George Council of Seniors (PGCOS) is a non-profit organization committed to supporting seniors and enhancing their quality of life through advocacy, services, programs, and community engagement. Through the Better at Home program, PGCOS provides non-medical support services that help seniors maintain their independence and continue living safely in their own homes.
Position Summary
The Prince George Council of Seniors is seeking a reliable and compassionate Housekeeper Contractor to provide housekeeping services to seniors participating in the Better at Home program. This is a temporary two-month casual contract position.
The successful contractor will perform light housekeeping duties in clients' homes while maintaining a professional, respectful, and supportive relationship with seniors. The contractor will also identify and report any health or safety concerns observed during service visits.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine housekeeping duties, including:
o Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors
o Dusting furniture and surfaces
o Cleaning kitchens and bathrooms
o Emptying garbage and recycling
o Cleaning windows and mirrors as required
o Changing bed linens and making beds
o Washing dishes and light household tasks as requested
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
• Report any safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or client welfare concerns to the Program Coordinator.
• Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
• Follow all Better at Home program policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of hours worked and services provided.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Qualifications
• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work respectfully with seniors from diverse
backgrounds.
• Dependable, trustworthy, and professional.
• Knowledge of seniors' issues and aging-related challenges is considered an asset.
Requirements
• Valid BC Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Ability to travel throughout Prince George.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
• Must be bondable.
• Ability to work flexible hours based on client needs.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Proof of business insurance and license
Compensation
• Up to 30 hours per week, subject to program demand and funding availability.
• As an independent contractor position, no employee benefits are provided.
