Our Story
We assess Vision Tracking (how the eyes follow a target or a line of print), Convergence (whether both eyes are focused on the target), Saccades (fast eye movements enabling a person to read or gather information quickly such as in team sports) & Accommodation (whether the lens adjusts quickly while seeing near then far in order to avoid blurring), as they all apply to Reading. Handwriting & hand muscle function are also assessed . General motor coordination is also evaluated if seen as necessary from other elements of assessment. Programs are then planned and a tutor (often the parent or spouse) trained in the specific strategies for remediation. Generally takes 6 weeks of therapy done 5 times per week. Initial assessments, program planning, training of a tutor in each element of an individualized program, then further assessments every 2 weeks to adjust program elements and materials used until completion. Can see reading levels increased by 2-3 grade levels.
