The Honourable Iona Campagnolo has achieved many firsts in her life:
- first woman and Northerner to be appointed a federal Minister in Canada (1976)
- first Minister of Amateur Sport in Canada (1976)
- first woman President of the Liberal Party of Canada (1982)
- first Chancellor of UNBC (1992)
- British Columbia’s first woman Lieutenant Governor (2001)

The Pacific Great Eastern Railway Film Collection is now available on the Northern BC Archives YouTube channel. This collection consists of three original color film reels that compile 16 footage clips from various dates between 1954 and 1971. Subjects include: PGE promotional events and rail tours with Premier W.A.C. Bennett, PGE track inspection and construction, the Williams Lake Stampede, Seton Lake, and a train wreck, among others.

We invite community members and rail enthusiasts to help improve the descriptions of these film clips by identifying people, places, objects, or dates via comments on the YouTube clips or emailing Northern BC Archives at [email protected].

The Upper Fraser Historical Geography Oral History Project provides access to oral histories that document the history of a series of forestry-based settlements along the Upper Fraser River in northeastern BC between 1915 and 2000. These histories will be of particular interest to current and past residents of The East Line Community including Willow River, Giscome, Newlands, Aleza Lake, Upper Fraser, Sinclair Mills, Longworth, and Penny.
