Update: All the halibut was distributed in the village. We should have another boat in at the dock in town on Sunday afternoon.

Good evening Metlakatla members! Tomorrow July 29th we have halibut coming in and will be starting in Metlakatla at the dock at 10 am. If we finish distributing to members on that side we will bring the boat to Prince Rupert to get more members here too.

Members who have not received your allocation we are getting close to being finished with the season so please reach out if you have not heard from our staff. Chances are we have an incorrect number on the list or we are that weird number that keeps calling you. Thank you and hope to see you tomorrow!

Good morning Metlakatla members! Tomorrow morning our seine will be offloading in Prince Rupert while totes are brought into Metlakatla. Going to be getting members on both sides again thanks to teamwork 😊 There will be more then last round so hopefully no one leaves the dock without fish this go! We will start making calls today to arrange for members who need delivery also. Looking forward to seeing more of you down there! I will update the post when we have a start time 😊

Good evening Metlakatla members! So tomorrow we have the seine landing at the dock at 9 am for sockeye! If you have not received your allocation come on down to the dock 😊 Elders will take priority as always and we hope to see you guys there ❀️

So is everyone ready? Tomorrow at 9 am we have a halibut boat landing on the Prince Rupert dock. He has 1000 lbs on board so there will be plenty to go around for members who have not received their allocation this year πŸŽ‰ As always the elders get priority and then we will continue with everyone else. Most of the elders have received halibut by now too 😊

Members who are in Metlakatla please stick by your phone if you have not received your allocation yet. We will be calling to see who is around to bring a delivery for those who are there and ready.

We are starting to get in sockeye quickly now so if you have not received your allocation stay tuned! We will have a couple boats landing this weekend including one of our seine boats.

There are still a number of people not answering when we call or the numbers are disconnected. MAR cell phone is (778)884-0615 and the warehouse number is (250)622-2189. Please watch for us to call or come on down to the dock when we post here 😊 Have a great night everyone!

Good morning Metlakatla members,

This update is a sad one for our program. As some of you have likely heard one of our skiffs capsized Thursday afternoon. We are so grateful they were spotted and rescued from the shoreline! Especially thankful to the two fishermen who rescued them for their fast response. Brody and Denise are one of our skiffs who feed a lot of members every year. We are currently working with them to try to retrieve their boat. This is a huge loss for the program. They bring in not only sockeye but were about to bring in halibut too. We ask for your patience while we sort through this.

Most importantly though let’s take a moment to remember these fishermen put their lives on the line for us every single year! It’s a huge investment to fish for the nation. They work long hard hours and don’t always get the gratitude they deserve. Yet they come back every year to make sure everyone gets fed. We are so grateful for all of the amazing fishermen our program has! We will work hard alongside them to ensure we still get everyone fed we just need time and patience. Let’s use the comments on this post to encourage and cheer for all of our fishermen as they push through the busy season for us! Thank you 😊

Good afternoon everyone!

The sockeye FSC program is underway now. We are doing our best to get everyone their allocation ASAP. Please make sure you are ready to receive your call. We are working our way through the elders first as always but will be accommodating out of town members as they come to town.

Our bigger boats are juggling many responsibilities with the commercial and demo fisheries affecting the time they have for our program. The skiffs are consistently delivering and more of the boats are hitting the water in the next couple days.

Final note for those of you who have not gotten your halibut allocation. Our boat will be back at it once he finishes his commercial allocation. We are hoping to have him back in the next week or two. We will work through members who still need halibut at that time. Thank you and we look forward to seeing more of the members over the next couple weeks!

There were some household items left at the dock office in town. They have been here for a few days now. Whoever these belong to, can please come pick them up as soon as possible. They are a tripping hazard to our staff as they are in the way of the entrance. Thank you.

Good morning Metlakatla members!

Today we have our first sockeye boat of the season coming in for Metlakatla village. As always our priority will be elders first and once they are taken care of we will get as many families as we can.

For those of you who have not gotten your allocation of halibut yet, not to fear! That part of distribution is on pause (we might have one or two boats in July but not many). We will get the remaining members once we finish sockeye for the season.

As a final note if we are slow to respond occasionally I send apologies in advance as our team will be juggle FSC distribution, EGC work and monitoring during July. We will get back to people as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Good afternoon Metlakatla members! We are now almost through the elder portion of the distribution list for halibut in Prince Rupert. Please make sure you have totes/bags ready for your call. We hope to have halibut complete by July 1st for local members.
Please make sure you update your contact number with us too. Membership cannot share your personal information with our department so if you do not update us too, we will not have the correct information.
Tomorrow morning at 10 am we will have a boat coming to Metlakatla for the first halibut distribution of the season for that side. Elders will be the priority and we will see how many members we can get after we complete the elders. See you all soon!

Good afternoon Metlakatla members! Some of you may have noticed Metlakatla village got prawns 😊 If you missed out that day or are on the Prince Rupert side we will be back at it tomorrow 😊 Prawns will be dropped into Metlakatla to the guardians around 10:30-11 and they will work on deliveries on that side for households missed. About the same time calls will start in Prince Rupert to set up pick up/drop off. We will start with the elders as always and work our way through the list. Please add our numbers to your phone so you know when we are calling 😊 (778)884-0615 is the MAR cell phone and our office number is (250)622-2189 😊 Calls for FSC will come from those numbers. If you have an updated number you can call or text us too! Looking forward to getting FSC under way and seeing you all again!
