Metlakatla Wilderness Trail

Metlakatla Wilderness Trail Northern British Columbia Coastal Rainforest Wilderness Trail Metlakatla is situated 7km west of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.

Our wilderness trail is located along the forested shoreline of the Tsimshian Peninsula beginning at the Metlakatla First Nation.

Hi folks - The trail continues to be closed. We are currently doing our best to re-open, however severe storm damage means that the trail continues to be unsafe to walk. We will let you know as soon as we are able to reopen!

We have a ferry on both Saturday and Sunday if there is anyone interested in hiking the trail this weekend.

On Saturday the ferry departs from the Metlakatla Ferry Dock at 9:00 am and returns at 4:15 pm.

On Sunday we have a ferry leaving Prince Rupert at 9:00 am and returns at either 4:45 pm or 5:45 pm.

There is a ferry leaving Prince Rupert this Saturday, July 12. The ferry departs from the Metlakatla Ferry Dock (Below the Crest Hotel) at 9:00 am. Please be there at 8:45 am to find parking.

The ferry leaves Metlakatla at 5:00 pm.

If you are interested in going-please bring enough food and water for the entire day. We have a designated picnic area with a few tables and beach access right at the picnic site.
