Tonight’s meeting was chaired by Co President Carolyn Christison.

Qualicum Beach Airport manager Kevin Goldfuss was introduced by mayor Teunis Westbroek. He reviewed the history of the airport and how Rotary helped with bringing the airport into existence.

Ron Stothers reported on the shifts Rotarians have put in at Sandcastle.

Rotarians sang Happy Birthday to Tyra. Dan Drake fined the Rotarians for their indescretions.

Highlights from the 2026-27 installation night @ the Qualicum Beach Inn.

Past President Gonda Lekx was the MC for the night. And Area Assistant Governor Glen Bonderud was our keynote speaker. The club presented Bob Dobbinson with a Paul Harris Fellowship award for all his years of service making the metal bases for our flag program. Bob attended with his wife Heather. Thank you Bob!

The Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach had their first meeting of the summer season (days are getting shorter!) down at Rotary Park. It was a gorgeous night, chaired by past president, Gonda Lekx.

Tonight’s guest speaker was Dr. Tanyss Munro, PhD from the Amorak Society who spoke about her work to help with educating mothers in Dhaka, Bangladesh to read and be literate. Dhaka has 37.5 million people and upwards of half the lower income people can’t read or write. You can find out more about Dr Munro’s organization at www.startwithmothers.org

Bill Duckenfield reminded up that our Rotary Flag program will have Rotarians delivering our flags this Friday/Saturday. We have over 420 customers signed up. Way to go Bill.

Pat Bloomfield was our lucky 50/50 winner and Michele Jack collected our happy and sad dollars.
