Happy to report another win yesterday!

An individual here in Daajing Giids was given less than a week to vacate the rental she was in and was facing homelessness. On her last day before moving out we were able to issue a letter to the landlord stating her rights to stay for at least one month. He backed down soon after receiving the letter and she is currently looking for housing on the south end for July. If anyone has any leads, please send us a message.

Important things to remember:

1. Even if you haven't signed a rental contract, if you've made a verbal agreement you still have tenants rights.

2. Whether landlords or employers know the laws or not, unjust and illegal evictions happen all the time. It's important to stand up and fight for our rights.

3. We all know we're in a housing crisis here, let's watch out for one another!

If you know anyone dealing with landlord or employer issues (unsafe/uncomfortable working conditions, unjust lay-offs or evictions, unsuitable living conditions etc.) give us a shout!

Please help our friend Alexander who is facing eviction of his home in Hooterville, Daajing Giids! We are still far from our goal and need your help!

Despite having been granted tenure by Chief Skidegate (Dempsey Collinson) in 1996 and all efforts to comply with the Province of BC's constantly changing criteria, the province has issued an eviction notice, saying his home is trespassing on "crown land".
Further to this injustice, the classist court system is forcing him to pay $17,000 to have his appeal/case heard (which was thrown from court before even being considered). We are trying to raise these funds so that he may attend a fair trial.
