With a song in our hearts and sketch materials in hand we accepted this week's challenge on our theme of musical instruments. A big thank you to Alex for bringing in her flute. I'm not sure we did it justice but we did have fun trying to capture all the buttons and valves.
Next week will be sketchers choice as Michelle takes the week off (to celebrate her birthday...). Sketch! is still on for those who'd like to drop in on Saturday between 10 and 12.

🎉 What a wonderful way to celebrate 90 years of library service!

We were thrilled to welcome Tamara Kronis, Member of Parliament for Nanaimo—Ladysmith, to our Nanaimo North branch for a special visit filled with smiles, stories, songs and celebration.

During her visit, MP Kronis toured the branch, joined families for one of our popular Baby Rhyme Time programs, and presented Vancouver Island Regional Library with a Certificate of Recognition in honour of our 90th anniversary. Executive Director Eileen Gillette and Board Chair Jonathan Lerner were honoured to accept the certificate on behalf of VIRL.

Receiving this recognition is a meaningful milestone as we celebrate nine decades of serving the people and communities of Vancouver Island. From introducing our youngest readers to the magic of books through Baby Rhyme Time to supporting lifelong learning across 39 branches, we're proud of the role libraries continue to play in bringing people together.

A heartfelt thank you to MP Kronis for helping us celebrate this special anniversary and for recognizing the impact libraries have in our communities. Here's to the next chapter!

Today at Sketch! our theme was nature-based featuring trees. Such a great time of year to try and capture our local trees in all their green glory.

We are back at Saturday mornings sessions of Sketch! Our theme today was the telephone and luckily we had a couple of old fashioned land lines to try and capture on the page of our sketchbooks.
Next week if the weather is promising we hope to get out to Spirit Lake to sketch the totem pole found off the parking lot. Or anything else that captures the imagination of the group.
