Cottonwood House Historic Site Cottonwood House Historic Site is located 26 kilometres east of Quesnel, BC CANADA.

This 26-acre site includes a preserved road house and offers walking trails, picnic areas, and a great place to stop along the Gold Rush Trail to Barkerville. Cottonwood House, is one of the last remaining roadhouses in British Columbia. With over 75 years of Boyd family legacy, a visit to this historic site will allow you to experience the rich history of the Cariboo region first hand. Cottonwood

House was built in 1864 offering accommodation, meals, hardware and provisions to many on their journey along the Cariboo Wagon Road to Barkerville or Quesnel. Today, this 26 acre wheel-chair accessible provincial heritage site is a tourist destination offering food, heritage interpretation, accommodation and more.

Mark your calendars! Barkerville's Main Season will return in 2026 from May 30th to September 13th with full programming including a daily show at the Theatre Royal and stagecoach rides at Barnard's Express!

And from May 15th-29th, we will bring back the Spring Shoulder Season with select shops and exhibits opening up for a soft launch, and admission by donation.
