Travelled to the Ottawa region to revisit my family. Thought space and time have kept us apart, the love we share as family is stronger then time and misunderstandings and the difficulties life bring about.

My brother Marc, has long stood up to be the patriarch of our generation. He has helped our siblings in hard times and been the guiding force to the next generation.

Our parents have been gone for over 15 years, they were the elders, their younger siblings have enjoyed a much longer life and are now leaving this realm.

Few of us are ever prepared for the loss of family and friends. Today’s society has sheltered people for the reality of our limited timeline of our corporal existence.

Throughout the years, we have met many people in a broad range of events and pleasant encounters.

Experiences and events have showed us that death is only final in the corporal world. As we depart this realm, celebrate the joys and moments we have shared together. A wail of sorrows is not a proper farewell but a cry of good tiding is.

Review the life you have shared with those who leave before us and celebrate joyful memories and laugh with those you love about the humorous events that you have shared and those times that made you who you have become.

I am very grateful for the love I have received this past week as we gathered around the departure of our sister Suzanne Robert. Her children and grand children hold a special place in their heart of who she was and how she lived.

As we carryon on our path forward, let us pause to review what is important in our family relations and how we share our love with those near us and far.

Who we are today is a combination of all those who have shared our path in life, share their love and taught us perspectives that differ from our own.

May happiness surround you along your individual path in life, may you find love and compasion to share with all those that have come to know you.
