Radium Hot Springs Fire Department The Radium Fire Department provides fire protection, pre-hospital medical care and general emergency services for the Village of Radium and our response area.

The Radium Hot Spring's Fire Department is comprised of dedicated men and women who serve our community and response area. The fire department provides structural fire protection, pre-ambulance medical care, low-angle rope rescue, wild-land fire response and general emergency response for the community of Radium and our local response area. Our crews respond, train, and meet at our fire hall, loca

ted at 4878, Radium Boulevard. Our department is ready to respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Practices take place on Monday nights from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Our medical first responders also train every week, one hour prior to regular practice. Our department is lead by our Fire Chief, as well as a Deputy Chief and two Captains. 15 other firefighters make up the remaining ranks of the department. This page is managed by an active duty member, who responds to calls with the department. When an incident occurs, this member is likely on scene and will be unable to respond to questions or enquirers. Updates may not be delivered in a timely manner, so we thank you for your patience and understanding when contacting us through this platform. If you are interested in joining the department, please feel free to contact us through this platform, or by phone or email. Before joining, please seriously consider if you can commit the time and energy into serving on the department. We welcome all individuals with varying skill sets and experiences, and once you have passed your orientation, you will begin your training with us. Our emergency vehicle fleet is comprised of the following:

Engine 1203 - HUB Spartan Pumper, our first our vehicle

Engine 1201 - Freightliner FL80 Pumper, our second-out vehicle

Engine 1202 - Freightliner FL 80 Pumper, now converted to be our wild-land fire response unit and water tender,

Emergency Transport Vehicle 1205 - A de-commissioned ambulance from Bonneyville Alberta that serves as our medical truck for both firefighter use, emergency medical calls, as well as rope rescue and general scene support.

Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Category 1 campfires will be permitted throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, which includes the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and the Selkirk Natural Resource District.

Other activities which were previously included in the Category 1 campfire prohibition (The use of sky lanterns, and the use of wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building) will now be permitted in the Southeast Fire Centre.

Category 2 and 3 open fire as defined in the Wildfire Regulation remains prohibited.

The Radium Fire Department is currently on scene at the bottom of the hill of 93/95 attending to a grass fire - we ask that everyone please slow down and obey our traffic control so we can safely continue with our mop up and work with BC Hydro to prevent any further damage!

The Village of Radium Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Department recently upgraded the suspension on its Wildland Trailer and has the following items for sale that have less than 500 km on them:

2 x 3,500 lbs axles (hub to hub measurement is 91 inches) at $800 each;
4 x 205/75R15 8 ply tires (5 stud on 4 ½ bolt pattern) at $200 each
4 x Springs (4 inch drop axles) at $60

Starting Thursday July 23rd at 12pm - Category 1 fires are prohibited - please see post for all the details!

Effective at 12 .p.m. (noon) Pacific Time on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Category 1 campfire will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.

A Category 1 campfire refers to any fire that burns:
- No larger than 0.5 metres in height and 0.5 metres in width
- Used for recreational purposes or by a First Nation for ceremonial purposes

Also prohibited are the following equipment and activities:
- Air curtain burners
- Carbonizers
- Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
- Binary exploding targets
- Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
- Controlled air incinerators
- Sky lanterns
- Wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens, and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building

This prohibition does not include the use of outdoor stoves. As per the Wildfire Regulation, an outdoor stove is a CSA-rated or ULC-rated device used outdoors for cooking, heat or ambiance that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel and has a flame height that is less than 15 cm tall. FROM BC WILDFIRE SERVICE: Category 2 open fire to be prohibited in the Southeast Fire Centre (Posted 07.08.26)

Effective at 1:00 PM MT on Friday, July 10, 2026, Category 2 open fire will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, including the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and the Selkirk Natural Resource District. This prohibition is being enacted to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Anyone conducting Category 2 open fires within the Southeast Fire Centre's jurisdiction must extinguish those fires by the 1:00 PM MT, July 10, 2026, deadline.

This prohibition will remain in place until 1:00 PM MT October 31, 2026, or until the order is rescinded.

This prohibition does not include Category 1 campfires.

A Category 2 open fire is a fire that burns:
1. Material in one pile not exceeding 2 metres in height and 3 metres in width
2. Material concurrently in 2 piles each not exceeding 2 metres in height and 3 metres in width
3. Stubble or grass over an area that does not exceed 0.2 hectares

Also prohibited is the equipment and activities listed below (Wildfire Act, Section 12):
• Air curtain burners
• Carbonizers
• Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
• Binary Exploding Targets
• Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
• Controlled air incinerators

Municipalities often follow BC Wildfire Service prohibitions or may impose different prohibitions based on conditions in their local area. If you are in a municipality, be sure to check if local prohibitions are in place. If you are within a regional district or improvement district, this prohibition applies as well as any local prohibition issued by the regional district or improvement district. BC Parks follows BC Wildfire Service prohibitions.

THE VILLAGE OF RADIUM HOT SPRINGS WATER SYSTEM HAS ISSUED AN ADVISORY DUE TO HIGH TURBIDITY

People with weakened immune systems, and/or wishing additional protection should take precautions when drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice, or when brushing teeth.

Until notified, these users are advised to:

1. Bring water to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute, or
2. Use an alternate, safe source of water.
