Łıwe Dats’ehtèe Zàa | September Tłı̨chǫ Word of the Month

This month’s Tłı̨chǫ word is:

🌿 Nàyehtsı̨̀ | Collect 🌿

Children attending daycares throughout the Tłı̨chǫ communities will learn and practise this word throughout September. Tłı̨chǫ families and community members are also encouraged to use Nàyehtsı̨̀ at home and in everyday conversation.

Using Tłı̨chǫ Yatıı̀ together helps our children hear, learn and carry our language forward.

Listen to the clip below to hear how to pronounce the word.

Nechàa t’ı̨ Seghàenda | Watch Me Grow!

Every child grows and learns at their own pace. The Watch Me Grow! developmental guide shares some of the skills children may develop between the ages of one and four, from their first words and movements to communication, play and growing independence.

Families can use this guide to learn more about their child’s development and the supports available to them.

**Remember, children develop at different rates. This is a guide, not a test.**

For more information or to book an appointment for your child, contact the Healthy Family Program, your local Daycare, or:

As the 2026–2027 school year begins, the Tłı̨chǫ Government Post-Secondary Support Division would like to send our best wishes to all Tłı̨chǫ students beginning another year of learning.

From our youngest students returning to elementary school, to our high school and post-secondary students, we are thinking of you and wishing you a wonderful year ahead.

For those who have travelled within the NWT or to other provinces and territories for school, we hope you arrived safely and are settling in well. Wherever your education takes you, carry your Tłı̨chǫ identity, language, culture, family, and community with pride.

A new school year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, make memories, and work toward your goals. Support one another, be proud of where you come from, and ask for help when you need it.

To all our Tłı̨chǫ students, we are proud of you and cheering you on every step of the way.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and successful 2026–2027 school year!
