NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING PURSUANT TO THE PLANNING ACT TO CONSIDER A MINOR VARIANCE APPLICATION TO BY-LAW 60.

TAKE NOTICE THAT:

The Township of Lake of the Woods has received Application No 46A2603 by Richard & Lori Lehman.

for a minor variance, in respect of the following SUBJECT LAND: namely Island EB2193 Pcl 24860 island north of Raspberry Island in Sabaskong Bay. No Key Map is provided herewith.

The purpose and effect of the proposed minor variance: The applicant is seeking relief from the provision for a Hazard Land setback of 15.0 metres. The applicant is seeking to reduce the minimum hazard land setback to 10.9728m and construct a second cabin above the 324.6 CGVD datum. And to vary the maximum floor space from 28 sq m to 35.7 sq m and allow a total height of over 4.5 m. If approved the applicant would be permitted to construct a sleeper cabin on the noted property and at a location closed that 15.0 from the shoreline, larger than 28 sq metres and higher than 4.5 meters.

Hearing date, time and location for both applications: A public meeting will be held at 7pm September 1st 2026 in Morson Council Chambers 21 Dalseg Drive to consider this application.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Lake of the Woods before the by-law is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Township of Lake of the Woods to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
If a person or public body that does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Lake of the Woods before the by-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added to as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

The Township of Lake of the Woods is seeking applicants for the position of Road Superintendent.

Working Road Superintendent/equipment operator
The Township of Lake of the Woods is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Working Road Superintendent/equipment operator.

Position Summary
Reporting to Council / the CAO, the Working Road Superintendent / Equipment Operator is responsible for the year-round maintenance and construction of municipal roadways, infrastructure, and fleet. This is a dual-role position: you will direct public works operations and staff, while also routinely operating heavy machinery and assisting with heavy manual labour.

Key Responsibilities
• Supervisory & Administrative:
o Oversee day-to-day operations of the public works department.
o Ensure all roads are maintained in compliance with provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards (MMS).
o Assist in developing and monitoring the annual public works budget.
o Routinely patrol municipal roads to identify deficiencies, hazards, and maintenance needs.
o Respond to public inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional, courteous manner.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
o Safely and efficiently operate municipal heavy equipment, including graders, tandem and/or single-axle plow trucks with sanders/wings, loaders, and backhoes.
o Perform winter control operations (snowplowing, sanding/salting), which will include rotating weekend or evenings and after-hours emergency calls.
o Perform routine circle checks, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment.
• General Public Works:
o Perform infrastructure maintenance including grading, gravel resurfacing, ditching, culvert installation, and brushing.
o Install and maintain regulatory and advisory signs in accordance with the Ontario Traffic Manual and Highway Traffic Act.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in road construction, heavy equipment operation, and public works maintenance will be an asset.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a municipal setting is highly preferred.
• Valid Ontario Class DZ Driver’s Licence in good standing (AZ Licence is considered an asset).
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and environmental compliance regulations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and municipal bylaws.
• Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, and asset management software) for administrative tasks.
• Physically fit and capable of performing heavy manual labour in various inclement weather conditions.
• Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and clean Driver’s Abstract.

The Township of Lake of the Woods is Planning for the Future!
The Township of Lake of the Woods is holding a Public Open House to introduce the proposed Official Plan and the proposed comprehensive Zoning By-law for the Township and to seek feedback from the public. This notice applies to all lands within the entire Township of Lake of the Woods and no key map has been provided.
What is an Official Plan?
The Official Plan is a guiding document for decision-making with respect to land use and development outlining the vision, goals, and policies for growth within the Township under Section 16 of the Planning Act. All new development is required to conform with the policies of the Official Plan to be approved.
What is a Zoning By-law?
The purpose of the new Comprehensive Zoning By-law is to regulate how and where development can occur within the entire municipality under Section 34 of the Planning Act. The new Comprehensive Zoning By-law will implement the policies and directions of the new Official Plan.
Have Your Say!
Any person may participate in the Public Open House to view the proposed Official Plan and proposed Zoning By-law documents, ask questions about the process, and provide comments on the proposed direction.
The proposed Official Plan and Zoning By-law documents are available for inspection at the Township of Lake of the Woods Office during regular office hours.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING PURSUANT TO THE PLANNING ACT TO CONSIDER AN AMENDMENT TO OUR COMPREHENSIVE ZONING #60 to apply to all lands within the municipality.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Township of Lake of the Woods will hold a public meeting and an open house to consider a by-law to amend the zoning on certain lands within the municipality. The purpose is to inform the public of a proposed zoning by-law on the following lands: to amend the zoning from General Commercial Zone to Residential 1 Zone on 5450 Hwy 621 McCrosson Township being Con 3 part of Broken Lot 2 Pcl 24834 Pcl 6268 RP 48R1718 Part 1 and RP 48R2210 Part 1. The rezoning is proposed by the owners of the said lands and is for the purpose of changing the former General Commercial lands to Residential 1 Zone to facilitate a residential use.

The meeting will be held in the Morson Council Chambers @ 21 Dalseg Dr Morson June 2nd 2026 at 7pm.
