Today, we join the entire Newfoundland and Labrador Firefighter community in mourning the loss of a truly dedicated Firefighter, Former NL Fire Commissioner Derek Simmons. Your dedication to the fire service in NL has been felt throughout our great Province. Many firefighters can attest that you were their mentor and they aspired to emulate your commitment. We also extend our condolences to his Family as they mourn the loss of their husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.

Commissioner Simmons has now become a Guardian who will help watch out for all Firefighters as they respond to emergencies. Commissioner Simmons completed his tour as a Firefighter in this life, be safe until we meet again!
