Today marks the start of National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

At Red Deer Public Schools, we are committed to learning from Indigenous perspectives and fostering understanding, respect, and meaningful relationships. Throughout the month, our schools will continue to engage in learning opportunities that honour Indigenous voices, histories, and ways of knowing.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the past, deepen our understanding, and work together toward reconciliation.

Our Fire Academy students put their training into action as they welcomed sponsors and family members for a special showcase day earlier this month. From emergency response demonstrations to hands-on skills, students had the opportunity to highlight everything they’ve learned throughout the program.

Thank you to The City of Red Deer Emergency Services, our sponsors, instructors, and families for supporting the next generation of firefighters and first responders.
