Join us at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre this Indigenous Veterans Day for a workshop on beaded poppies. On November 8 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., we welcome local beader Samantha Lafontaine, who will guide you through the creation of a beautiful design all your own.

Whether experienced or new to crafting, all skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Earlybird rate is on now and available until October 15! Limited number of spaces available.

We had a blast last week at the Seniors Information Fair! Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop and talk to us. Tuesday, October 6 is the first Tuesday of the month, which means it’s time for our Seniors’ Warm Cup Social! This month we are featuring the goats currently on site and how they are an essential part of removing invasive plant species from the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary. 🐐

Join us at the Marjorie Wood Gallery in the Kerry Wood Nature Centre this friday, Oct 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for First Friday! 🎨

The new exhibit is a mural drawing completed by the Second year Drawing students in the Visual Art Program at Red Deer Polytechnic. Each student was responsible for finding an article relating to forest fires. Using the images printed in the articles, the students collaged a connective landscape that defied a consistent proportion or perspective, building a metaphor for the varied experiences surrounding wildfires.

All ages welcome.
Free.

🎉Fort Normandeau's biggest party of the year is back! On Sept 26 & 27 join us from noon to 4 p.m. for Fort Normandeau Days. Celebrate life in Central Alberta circa 1885, with black powder guns and cannons, family-friendly games and activities, live performances, homemade ice cream, archery, tomahawks, and so much more. This event is completely FREE!

Join us at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from noon to 3:30 p.m. for our annual fall River Valley Cleanup! Together, let's keep the Red Deer River and in the surrounding river valley litter-free. 🌎💚💪

To participate, please arrive at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre any time between noon and 1:00 p.m. to receive your supplies and begin cleaning litter along your assigned route. No pre-registration required.

Please dress for the weather, wear closed-toe walking shoes, and bring a water bottle.

Free. All ages welcome. Prizes and ice cream to follow cleanup!

Check out this ladybug🐞

The eye-spotted lady beetle is usually found high in trees, feeding on aphids, although it is sometimes found closer to the ground. Interestingly, its wing-colour darkens as it ages... This senior specimen is looking mighty fine!
