💗 Meet Hugs! 💗

Aspire's Park It Summer Program returns on July 2, and we're excited to introduce the newest member of our team... Hugs! 🧸☀️

Hugs is our special comfort companion, created to help children feel welcome, supported, and included at Park It. Whether it's a new experience, a big feeling, or simply a moment when a child needs a little extra reassurance, Hugs will be there to share comfort, encouragement, and friendship.

You'll find Hugs joining our team at parks all summer long as we bring free outdoor fun, play, and connection to families across Central Alberta.

We're also excited to share that this year, Park It will have a consistent weekly schedule, making it easier than ever for families to find us!

Mondays – Penhold | Critter's Corner Playground
Tuesdays – Red Deer | Bower-Kin Community Centre
Wednesdays – Red Deer | Mattie McCullough Elementary School
Thursdays – Red Deer | G.H. Dawe Elementary School

Five of our Rotary Sunrise volunteers joined Red Deer Rotary volunteers at Mackenzie Trails on Saturday June 6 to plant 1500 white spruce saplings. We got a little dirty and had a lot of fun! 🌳😄

The tree-planting effort brought together community members to help improve the local environment and create a greener future for everyone.

After all the hard work, everyone was treated to pizza, making a great day even better. Thanks to everyone who helped make it such a successful event!

Rotarians Give Blood and Build Community

Members of Rotary Clubs across Central Alberta joined forces for our semi-annual blood drive and donor appreciation social this evening. Five dedicated donors rolled up their sleeves to give blood through Canadian Blood Services, helping to make a life-saving difference in our communities.

Following the donations, 15 Rotarians and guests gathered at the Local Croffle House for an evening of fellowship and celebration. The food was excellent and the restaurant manager generously treated all five blood donors to complimentary croffle desserts in recognition of their contribution. 🍨

A special congratulations goes to Cason who made his very first blood donation today and has become a Partner for Life at CBS. We are proud of his commitment to service and grateful to all who participated in this meaningful event.

Together, we are helping save lives—one donation at a time. ❤️🩸

The Red Deer Homeless Foundation has submitted a Development Permit application to The City of Red Deer for Project Nexus, a proposed social care campus at 7740 40 Avenue. The application includes Phase 1 of the project, featuring a proposed 200-bed emergency shelter operated by Hope Mission.

We know there is significant community interest in this project, and we want residents to have an opportunity to learn more and share their feedback.

Written comments will be accepted until June 15, 2026.
