We value community and believe that we can achieve more when we work together. We believe the rights we enjoy should serve as a reminder of the responsibilities that we owe. And we value the importance of the things that make life good, including the arts, culture, sport, and time with family and friends. We value democracy and believe that everyone should have the ability to shape their own life and the life of their community, that those who are most affected by a decision should have the greatest input into the discussion, and that government needs to be more transparent, accountable, inclusive and responsive to the needs of Saskatchewan families, businesses and communities.

Today, April ChiefCalf committed on behalf of Carla Beck-Leader of the Sask NDP to reversing the harmful Sask. Party changes to rent payments — one way or another.

As cities report record homelessness and an encampment crisis has gripped Saskatoon in recent weeks, our team is pledging immediate action to undo harmful changes imposed by the Sask. Party.

This fall, we intend to introduce legislation to scrap the terrible changes made by the government to income support and restore the direct payment of rent and utilities.

We’re giving Scott Moe a choice: Work with us and pass our legislation to help people houses now. If he refuses we will reverse these harmful changes when we form the next Saskatchewan NDP government.

Either way, we will get this done.

New documents reveal the scorn with which MLA Ken Cheveldayoff treats the money of struggling Saskatchewan families.

He spent $40K on flights alone for a trip to Asia earlier this year.

The details of the lavish trip, laid bare in documents obtained through a freedom of information request, are just the latest example of the arrogant Sask. Party — a government that wines and dines at 30,000 feet on the taxpayer dime while people struggle on the ground below.

STATEMENT FROM CARLA BECK ON NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and generations of Indigenous people who continue to live with the lasting impacts and continue to face harm.

Each of us carries a responsibility to advance reconciliation and that requires more than words — it requires meaningful action. We must respect the Duty to Consult, protect Indigenous lands, cultures, languages and traditions, and continuing the work of implementing the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Education and understanding must also be central to that work. That is why our team continues to call on Scott Moe and the Sask. Party to recognize Sept. 30 as a statutory holiday in Saskatchewan, as several other provinces and territories and the federal government have done.

Providing people with the time to learn, reflect, attend ceremonies and events, and connect with their communities is one concrete way Saskatchewan can demonstrate its commitment to reconciliation.

Together, we can walk a path towards a brighter future for all that call this place home.

In July, a community townhall in Cupar made it crystal clear that the Sask. Party’s construction projects were wholly inadequate, unsafe and a wasteful disaster. They say the base of this portion of the highway is not suitable to re-surface and needs to be completely rebuilt and engineered to ensure its long-term viability for drivers.

Trent Wotherspoon, Shadow Minister for Finance and Associate Shadow Minister for Agriculture attended that townhall and said the answers from current Sask. Party MLA Travis Keisig didn’t come close to meeting the mark.

Carla Beck’s team called for immediate action to address the serious concerns and rebuild the highway properly.

Instead, the Sask. Party and local MLA dismissed and ignored those calls and plowed ahead.

Today, Wotherspoon was joined by numerous local residents to hold the government accountable and to demand a commitment to properly rebuild and fix Highway 22 once and for all.

Throughout the summer the community was united in clearly and strongly communicating to their local MLA and Sask. Party government that the project was nothing short of a wasteful disaster, including that there wasn’t proper pilot holes and testing of the current failed base, and that there’s been huge community safety concerns and disregard for the community.

This highway is a vital artery for the community. It’s used for emergency services, to get kids to school and activities and is an essential economic and agricultural artery, as producers use it to haul their crop to the terminals in Cupar, Southey, Balcarres, and the Yorkton and Regina crush facilities.

Clearly the Sask. Party isn’t listening and has failed the community — the highway portions are unsafe and unacceptable.

It must be rebuilt properly and we stand united with the community and region demanding that if the Sask. Party fail to fix it we will when elected.

Saskatchewan patients relying on their pharmacies for critical, sometimes lifesaving, medications were caught up in a massive outage yesterday, made so much worse by a missing-in-action Sask. Party government.

Despite the clear issues impacting thousands of patients, no news release, public alert or update was issued by Cockrill, the Saskatchewan Health Authority or Saskatchewan eHealth to those affected.

This is a do-nothing, missing in action government that spends their days flying on private jets and pandering to their friends and insiders while everyday people suffer.

It’s time for change.

Twelve emergency rooms across Saskatchewan were reporters as "disrupted" over the weekend as farmers raced to complete one of the most difficult harvests in decades.

Thousands of people across the province did not have immediate access to emergency rooms this weekend.

The Sask. Party says they’ve got the most ambitious healthcare plan in the country.

What is ambitious about people dying because they can’t access healthcare in an emergency?
