On behalf of our partner organization, SUMAssure, we are sharing risk prevention tips for municipalities as we head into summer!

Injuries happen but they can be prevented. Routine and documented inspection programs, preventative maintenance, and removing or tagging equipment in disrepair reduces the risk of injury.

Liability concerns with playgrounds include equipment in disrepair, hard surfaces where falls can happen, and clothing entanglement and head/neck entrapment.

We are excited to share that SUMA President Randy Goulden and Ex-Officio Board Member Gerald Aalbers will be participating in the Municipal Energy Dialogue on June 4 in Edmonton, hosted by Energy for a Secure Future in partnership with Resource Works.

As communities across Canada work to balance environmental responsibility with economic growth and housing affordability, the role of local leadership has never been more important. Achieving this balance depends on developing the right mix of energy solutions, ones that advance livable communities while supporting investment, environmental goals, and job creation.

Panelists, including President Goulden and Mayor Aalbers, will share frontline insights on how municipalities are navigating these challenges. The discussion will explore how communities are aligning energy decisions with economic and social priorities to build a more resilient future.
