It started when a few years back when I would get up for work at 5AM and and the road shortly after. I would text message close friends the Weather and Conditions so they knew what it was like prior to beginning their day. The list of texts got larger, and I had to expand that message to a different platform. The move to Facebook back in 2007 was logical at the time. For a few years posts were made on a personal page. Now and then as life has it I would miss posting for a day here and there. I certainly heard about it! The messages, posts and comments would come in questioning what happened. Some would joke about how they didn't know what to wear. Joking aside, I knew I had an interested audience. Regina Morning Weather Update Service (RMWUS) was born. Fast forward to today, Smart phones, advanced notification systems and apps, even on screen widgets and the overall increase in technology has brought doubt and question if its worth it to keep the page posting on a regular basis. A small questionnaire was launched. After positive feedback, comments and messages, The service will remain in operation, however in a slightly different capacity. Morning posts on regular daily forecasts will be removed. Warnings and Watches posts will continue to operate as normal as they are received. The page will continue to be based on the same methodology as the past. It will remain a Winter based program with exceptions to Warning Watches and notable local traffic interruptions in all seasons. Post times will always be varied, as the weather here keeps no schedule. As a local community based page, posts about upcoming events, posts about stories, or even posts of humor may appear at random. Be a good human and don't complain about things you don't wish to see. Just ignore it and move on with life. In extreme weather situations more information may be provided including Warning, Watches, Traffic, and updates. Also posts including information from the Department of Highways and Infrastructure, City of Regina, Regina Police, Fire, EMS and other local or municipal operation and Emergency groups. ink to check on Highway Conditions, Weather watches and warnings, and other information. Including School closures and bus route cancelations. In RARE cases a "Snow Day" will be reported, However this is Saskatchewan, don't expect to hear that one to often.
