REMINDER
An Open House about the Water Meter Installation Process will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, with two session times available. Both sessions will provide the same information and offer residents an opportunity to meet Neptune Technology Group's project managers, learn about the installation process, ask questions, and discuss any concerns they may have.

DAYTIME SESSION: Noon – 2 p.m.
EVENING SESSION: 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Evacuation Order AMENDMENT | CSRD Area B
August 31, 2026, at 3 PM

The EVACUATION ORDER AMENDMENT is as follows:
👉 Johnson Creek wildfire (N51006) – order has been downgraded to an ALERT
👉 Lew Creek wildfire (N71327) – order has been RESCINDED

Emergency management officials, in coordination with BC Wildfire Service and partner agencies, will continue to monitor wildfire activity and conditions.

The next update will be provided on or before Friday, September 4, 2026, at 4 p.m., or sooner if conditions change.

August 28, 2026, at 11 AM

The State of Local Emergency (SOLE) for Area B has been extended until September 4, 2026 in support of the current Evacuation Orders associated with the Johnson Creek and Lew Creek wildfires will remain in effect at this time.

The EVACUATION ORDER for the Johnson Creek wildfire (N51006) and Lew Creek wildfire (N71327) remain in effect for public safety and support of firefighting efforts.

As such, there are no changes to the current evacuation order areas associated with the Johnson Creek wildfire (N51066, Incomappleux FSR) or the Lew Creek wildfire (N71327, Trout Lake) at this time.

Candidate Nomination Period Opens September 1

👉 Individuals intending to run in the 2026 General Local Election are reminded that nomination packages will be accepted by Election Officials at Revelstoke City Hall, 216 Mackenzie Avenue, during the nomination period (excluding weekends and statutory holidays):

Open: Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
Close: Friday, September 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.

👉 Candidates are strongly encouraged to submit their nomination documents well in advance of the legislated deadline. Early submission provides Election Officials with an opportunity to review nomination packages for completeness and allows candidates time to address any deficiencies before the close of nominations. Nomination packages will not be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on September 11, 2026.

👉Nomination documents are available for pick up at City Hall or are downloadable at rvst.ca/election Prospective candidates are encouraged to review all candidate information and nomination requirements before submitting their documents.

Today, Blast visits us from 1956. He’s managed to get a rare aerial view of Rogers Pass prior to highway construction!

Why are we doing this?
Because Revelstoke’s heritage is important. This is a small way we can remember our roots and share gratitude for how we grew into the unique, vibrant, caring and adventurous community we are today.

Revelstoke Mosquito Update from the Columbia Shuswap Regional District

Revelstoke Mosquito Update 🦟

We hear you, mosquitoes are out in full force in Revelstoke, and we know it’s frustrating for both residents and visitors.
After a quiet spring and early summer, mosquito activity surged in August due to a sudden rise in Columbia River water levels in mid-July.

Here’s what’s happening: Most of these mosquitoes are floodwater species, with eggs that can lie dormant for years until rising water triggers a hatch. The majority are coming from the Columbia Wetlands, where our crews have been hard at work all season. By the end of June, we treated over 625 hectares by helicopter and another 65 hectares on the ground. Late July brought extra challenges, dense, tall vegetation made it tough for our teams to reach all the flooded areas. We’re grateful for their dedication in these tough conditions!

The good news: water levels are dropping fast, so no new mosquito larvae are emerging. However, adult mosquitoes will still be around for a while, especially with recent smoky and overcast weather helping them stay active. 🌞 Warmer, sunnier days ahead should help reduce their numbers.

In the meantime, mosquito activity is highest in the early morning and evening. Please use insect repellent and take other protective steps during peak times.

In June, we announced the upcoming Water Meter Program - a new initiative that will:
🚰 Allow billing based on actual usage, so those residents who conserve water will pay less in the future.
🚰 Help us identify and control leaks, allowing our teams to better target repairs.

Over time, this will improve system efficiency, lower emergency repair costs and help maintain a reliable service for Revelstoke residents.

Over the next couple of weeks, Neptune Technology Group* will mail letters regarding the first step of this program to property owners. These letters will include:
