In York Region, getting around is part of everyday life.
From early morning commutes on the 404 and 400 to school drop-offs, errands, and weekend plans, driving connects our families, our work, and our communities.
And we’ve heard from many of you: the cost of gas has been adding up.
That’s why we’ve taken action.
By removing federal gas taxes, our government is helping Canadians pay less at the pump, putting more money back in your pocket when it matters most.
For families and commuters across York Region, that could mean saving up to $100–$120 over the summer.
A little more flexibility in your budget.
A little more room for the things that matter most.
This is part of a broader effort, led by Prime Minister Carney, alongside the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Natural Resources, to support affordability while building strong, resilient communities.
And right here in York Region, we’re proud to work with our local representative, the Member of Parliament for Markham—Thornhill and Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, to ensure these measures reflect the needs of our region.
Because for us, this work is about people.
It’s about listening, and taking action to support the middle class and those working hard to join it.
It’s about making sure families can get ahead, not fall behind.
That’s the approach we believe in.
That’s the work we’re focused on.
And that’s how we’re building a more affordable, stronger York Region, together.
