We will be hosting our Annual Chicken BBQ on Sunday August 16th, 12 noon until sold out!!
Pre-Orders are available online at https://rjvfd.square.site/ Pre-Orders are only to guarantee your meal. We currently will NOT have a separate line for preorder pick ups. Indoor seating will be available. We would also ask if Pre-orders could be picked up by 2pm the day of, to help us with our clean up efforts. This evening we had 3 AMAZING Teams compete in our Annual Firefighter Competition. Thank you to Tatamagouche Fire Department and Bible Hill Fire & Emergency for yet another year of friendly competitiveness! Always great to see how other departments can work together and cheer each other on! More pictures to follow soon from the Competition.

We wondered how big is 1700 hectares...and we reached out to Kevin B who helped us with this graphic. These comparisons are approximated for visual comparisons and not meant to be exacting.

Below is an update issued just before noon from Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources :
UPDATE (11:35 a.m.): DNR, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, and volunteer fire departments are continuing to respond to the fire on Mooseland Rd, Halifax Co. The fire has seen significant growth and is now estimated to be 1700 hectares and is out of control. Two DNR helicopters and two fixed-wing water bombers from Newfoundland are responding. Our four fixed-wing water bombers are also working on the fire as well.

Mooseland Rd. is currently closed near sixth lake. Please avoid the area.

Today we had the River John & Area Recreation Day Campers swing by for a visit to the Fire Hall. We also had a Special Guest Constable Raphine swing by with her cruiser to help show the kids!

Tonight for our Training Night, we worked on air consumption with a couple friendly games of Dodge Ball and then a walk across the Bridge to Rogers Landing and back.
