Yaù ’Wuìk̓inux̌v Nation,

A message from Coastal Nations Fisheries,

Big things happening with Coastal Nations Fisheries!

The 2026 season is proving to be a strong one — Community Based Fisheries have expanded, with two Shareholder Nations now participating in three different fisheries.

And there's a great story behind the boat "Rolling Thunder" — one of five new crab-licensed vessels CNF helped bring to the Nations this year, now on its way to Old Massett on Haida Gwaii!

CNF also took its voice to Ottawa this spring, testifying in front of the Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans on improving the commercial licensing regime on the Pacific Coast — advocating directly for our fishing communities.

Plus, CNF representatives traveled to Nuxalk Territory to share updates on community-based fisheries work.

And don't forget — the 2026 Divers' Catch Festival is coming up Sept 19 at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site in Steveston!
