This week, over 20 kids ages 9 to 11 jumped into our free Swim to Survive program at Lion Ken Gabbey Community Pool! They spent the week building water safety skills and growing more confident — and it showed. So many smiles on the pool deck!

Moments like these don't happen without great instructors and lifeguards. Want to be part of it? We're hiring for September!

Line painting will begin around 10 a.m. today, weather permitting, at the Pinewood Road, Bridgedale Boulevard and Gunningsville Boulevard roundabouts.

Drivers may experience brief delays of less than five minutes while paint dries. Crews will work to keep delays to a minimum.

Did you know? Our Lifeguards and Swim Instructors have the opportunity to apply for a $2,000 scholarship that recognizes the important impact they make in our community.

Last year, Olivia Ward received this recognition to help support the cost of her post-secondary education while celebrating the dedication and leadership she brought to our aquatics team.

This scholarship is just one of the many ways we recognize the value of our pool staff. Every day, our Lifeguards and Swim Instructors help keep swimmers safe, build confidence in the water, and create positive experiences for people of all ages.

Applications for our aquatics team are still open until September 3.

The Town of Riverview will be conducting an Urban Tree Inventory on municipal properties, including streets, parks, and other Town-owned land. The project is expected to begin on August 24 and will take approximately four to six weeks to complete.

As part of this project, ISA-certified arborists contracted by the Town will collect information on trees located within municipal right of ways, approximately 3 to 6 metres of curbs and sidewalks. Please note that contractors will not enter private property or assess trees located on private land. Information collected will include each tree's location, species, size, and overall condition.

During this time, residents may see contractors wearing high-visibility clothing walking along streets and throughout parks. Contractors may carry mobile devices and take measurements of trees as they conduct the inventory.

🚲 Do You Know Your Bike Hand Signals?

Hand signals are one of the easiest ways to communicate with drivers, pedestrians, and other cyclists while on the road. Using them helps everyone know where you're going, reduces confusion, and makes riding safer for all!

👈 Left Turn: Extend your left arm straight out to the side.
👉 Right Turn: Extend your right arm straight out to the side (or raise your left arm bent at a 90° angle).
🛑 Stop: Point your arm downward with your palm facing behind you.
