Today we recognize International Women’s Day, and it feels important to pause for a moment and acknowledge the incredible women who shape our department and our community.

The fire service has long been built on courage, commitment, and service. Over the years, many women have stepped forward to live those values right alongside their brothers on the truck floor, in training, and out in the community. Their strength, professionalism, and dedication have helped shape who we are today.

To the women currently serving in our fire hall, thank you. Your work, leadership, and steady presence make our team stronger every day. The time you give, the calls you answer, and the example you set matters more than words can fully capture.

To the women who served before us, we carry forward the path you helped create. Your contributions helped open doors and set standards that continue to guide this department today. You remain part of the story and the foundation we stand on.

And beyond the hall, we also recognize the mothers, partners, daughters, friends, and community members who support this work and help make it possible. The fire service is never just the people wearing the gear, it is the people standing beside them.

Today is a reminder that strength, leadership, and service take many forms. Our department is better because of the women who have chosen to stand up, step forward, and serve their community.

Thank you for everything you bring to this work and to the fire family.

Happy International Women’s Day.

🧗‍♂️🔥 xRCVFD is Climbing for a Cause 🔥🧗‍♀️

This year, members of xwesam – Roberts Creek Volunteer Fire Department are stepping up once again, this time for the Climb the Wall in support of lung health across British Columbia.

Firefighters will climb in full gear, pushing through heat, weight, and fatigue. It is a physical challenge, but it represents something much bigger. For many people living with lung disease, every single day feels like a climb.

We see firsthand how vital healthy lungs as we volunteer. This event gives us the opportunity to stand alongside those in our community who are facing respiratory illness and to raise funds that support research, education, and prevention.

We are asking our community to stand with us.

If you would like to support our team, please visit our fundraising page:

Every step we take is powered by the people behind us.

Roberts Creek has always shown up for its firefighters. Now we are climbing for those who need us most.

Thank you for your continued support.

🎅🚒 Oh the Cheer You Will See, When the Fire Trucks Roll Free 🚒🎅

On Sunday, December 21st, at 3 o’clock on the dot,
From the Fire Hall we’ll roll, ready or not.

Through the Heart of the Creek we’ll happily go,
With lights shining bright and music aglow.
Down Lower Road we’ll travel with cheer,
To Cheryl Ann Park, then turn right back here.

Along Beach Avenue, wave big and wave wide,
Past Henderson Avenue, joy by our side.
Then off to Flume Road, a careful cross too,
Over Highway 101, as we head back to you.

Santa will ride with a wave and a grin,
Spreading good cheer as the holidays begin.
So bundle up warm and come out to say hey,
As the fire trucks roll past in festive display.

📍 And right at 3:00 PM, just look and you’ll see,
A live tracker posted on Facebook, follow along with glee.

From all of us here who proudly serve,
This community spirit is what we preserve.
Oh the joy we will share, oh the smiles we’ll ignite,
As we roll through the Creek on this magical night. 🎄✨

Coastal Fire Centre Lifts Ban on Campfires on September 17 at noon
Tags: 2025 | News Release
Date Released: September 16, 2025
The Provincial Coastal Fire Centre has advised that the campfire ban will be lifted for the Sunshine Coast effective Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at noon.

Despite this, Fire Chiefs from Sunshine Coast fire departments in Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay, Pender Harbour and Egmont are asking for extreme caution from our community should you be considering having a campfire. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that burning is done in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with regulations.

Reminders about campfires:

A campfire is defined as any fire smaller than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide.
Never light a campfire or keep it burning in windy conditions. Weather can change quickly, and the wind may carry embers to other combustible material.
Maintain a fireguard around your campfire. This is a fuel-free area where all flammable materials (grass, leaves, kindling, etc.) have been removed right down to the soil.
Never leave a fire unattended.
Make sure that any fire is completely extinguished, and the ashes are cold to the touch before leaving the area for any length of time
While campfires will be allowed on the Sunshine Coast, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires remain prohibited, including the use of fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels and burn cages. These restrictions will remain in place until October 31, 2025, or until the order is rescinded. Open burning continues to be restricted at all times within the Town of Gibsons.

A great resource explaining the different categories of open burning is available here online.

This weekend, our members took part in an intensive Vehicle Rescue Technician course—building on their skills in stabilization, extrication, and advanced rescue techniques. From scenario-based training to tool deployment, this course sharpened our readiness for real-world emergencies.

A huge thank you to RentalEquip.ca for their generous donation of a forklift to help with vehicle setup. Your support played a key role in making these training scenarios safe, realistic, and effective. 👏

These trainings are about more than tools and techniques—they’re about teamwork, safety, and being ready when our community needs us most.
