Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Services, CRFRS CRFRS social media pages are for communication of CRFRS/Clearwater County information and engagement with the community.

Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Service is a proud, professional department providing protection to the citizens of Clearwater County, The Town of Rocky Mountain House, and The Summer Village of Burnstick Lake. Clearwater County is the managing partner of Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Services (CRFRS), therefore CRFRS social media accounts follow all guidelines established by Clearwater County.

CRFRS social media activity occurs during regular business hours (8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday) with exception of operational updates, responses to public comments should be expected within two business days, where practicable. Direct messages and posts are not considered official correspondence. Official correspondence means communications written, faxed or emailed to CRFRS that includes the resident’s proper name and address. Residents should contact CRFRS by email or in writing to submit:
• A formal customer service request, comment or inquiry.
• A response to an item published for public comment. All comments will be regularly moderated and reviewed by staff. CRFRS will not tolerate or respond to comments that are offensive to an individual or an organization, rude in tone, or abusive as determined by Clearwater County. Users of the page agree that they shall not post any content that meets the following conditions, and CRFRS reserves the right to, without notice, edit, remove, or refuse content that meets any of the following conditions:
• in violation of any laws or regulations such as the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Alberta Human Rights Act and any other applicable codes of conduct;
• racist, hateful, sexist, homophobic, slanderous, insulting, life-threatening or otherwise offensive messages
• defamatory, serious, unproven or inaccurate accusations against individuals or organizations
• aggressive, abusive, coarse, violent, obscene, or pornographic content
• content which may offend the privacy, personal, property or other rights of any individuals or organizations
• content which infringes the policies of Facebook
• hyperlinks to website or other content that meet the above conditions
• content where the sender is not the author

• any other content that Clearwater County feels will not add to the normal flow of debate. Users also shall agree that they shall not use the page in such a way as to offend the privacy, personal, property or other rights of any individuals or organizations. Users also agree not to use the site in such a way as to breach the laws of jurisdiction in which users currently reside. Users participate at their own risk, taking personal responsibility for comments, username and any information provided. If staff find that a comment or post contravenes any of the guidelines listed above, staff will make a copy of the comment for the record and delete the post from the CRFRS page, and the offending user shall be blocked from the page.

The fire advisory that was in place for the non-Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Clearwater County (including the Summer Village of Burnstick Lake) has been lifted.

Please be advised that a Fire Advisory is now in effect for the non-Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Clearwater County and most of the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area.

Under this advisory:
• Existing fire permits are valid, but extension requests may not be granted.
• New fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, for essential burning only.
• Burn notifications are required for all controlled burns in Clearwater County (both inside and outside of the Forest Protection Area).
• Campfires in approved fire pits and on private land are allowed and must be fully extinguished after use.

A small portion of southern Clearwater County is within the Calgary Forest Area and is currently under a Fire Restriction.

Residents and visitors may be alarmed regarding the increased smoke visible in our community, with thicker smoke more prominent in the western portion of the County around Nordegg.

This smoke is not from any local wildfire; it is from an out-of-province wildfire.

Residents are reminded that trees impacted by recent tornadoes and wind events may have sustained hidden damage and could be weakened. These trees are at an increased risk of falling during future wind events, even if they appear stable.

County crews have begun right-of-way cleanup operations on Highway 598 between Taimi and Oras Roads following the recent storm. Crews will move along to other impacted areas in the coming days.

𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 - 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟮
Clearwater County remains in regular contact with the Government of Alberta and local MLA Jason Nixon as recovery efforts continue following the July 18 tornado.

We are working closely with provincial partners to support recovery activities, including debris removal and the management of downed trees in affected areas. As damage assessments continue and additional information becomes available, updates will be shared with residents.

We thank our emergency responders, partner agencies, contractors, volunteers, and residents for their ongoing efforts and patience throughout the recovery process.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 - 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬
Following further assessment, the July 18 tornado has been confirmed to have touched down southwest of Rocky Mountain House and travelled through the southern portion of town and surrounding rural areas. While 51 properties sustained damage and 8 homes are believed to be uninhabitable, no injuries have been reported and no residents have been displaced.

𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲: 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲

On July 18, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a tornado caused significant damage in parts of Clearwater County and the Town of Rocky Mountain House. Reports indicate downed trees, damaged homes and buildings, blocked roads, and impacts to local infrastructure.

At this time, there have been no reported injuries.

Emergency crews, Alberta Forestry, Clearwater County, and Town of Rocky Mountain House Public Works crews are actively working to clear debris, restore access, and address immediate safety concerns. Residents are asked to avoid affected areas, use caution on roadways, and stay clear of downed trees and power lines.

A full damage assessment will be completed in the coming days. We thank all responding agencies and community members for their cooperation and patience as cleanup efforts continue.
