There is currently no fire ban in effect for West Elgin. HOWEVER...

Residents are reminded to be ever vigilant with fire safety. Campfires are permitted provided they are contained and away from dry vegetation or other combustible materials. A responsible person must be in attendance at all times, with a means of extinguishing the fire close by.

With the poor air advisory and general dryness, new burn permits are still being held off and limiting outdoor activities (such as campfires) is advised.

Due to hot temperatures, drier conditions, and ongoing wheat harvest, no new burn permits will be issued until conditions improve.

There is currently NO change to burn permits that have already been approved.

Active Incident - crews responded to a structure fire on Kintyre Line, west of Furnival Road. Fire has been extinguished with no reported injuries. Firefighters remain on scene, please avoid the area. Thanks to Dutton Dunwich Fire Department for mutual aid assistance.
