The future campsite of Plant Summer Camp has really blossomed over the past year! 🌱

Vinny took the Plant Campers down to get rooted in the latest progress at the Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Centre for Health and Wellness this week. While the Campers couldn’t branch out inside without proper safety training, Vinny managed to gain access and report back all the budding details.

We can’t wait to see how it continues to grow! 🌱🏕️ 🚧 🪴

This week, Plant Summer Camp was rooting for the hoisting of the Progressive Pride Flag on campus, signaling the start of Pride Season. Students, faculty, staff, friends, and family all came together in support of the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

Vinny and the Plant Campers realize that Pride Season is a time to bloom in celebration of the diversity, strength, and contributions of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, while also recognizing the work that remains to cultivate inclusion, equity, and belonging.

Happy Pride!! 🌱 🌈 🏕️ 🪴

In 1875, Grace Annie Lockhart shattered barriers as the first woman in the British Empire to earn a university degree, a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison Wesleyan College, and set a powerful precedent for women’s education across the Commonwealth.

To honour her trailblazing spirit, Grace Annie Lockhart Sesquicentennial Pins were presented during Convocation & Reunion Weekend, recognizing women alumnae who embody leadership, innovation, service, and community impact. The ceremony brought together students, faculty, and alumni to mark 150 years of her enduring influence, spotlighting extraordinary women, from pioneering scientists and social advocates to artists and public leaders.

Plant Summer Camp seconds the words of Mount Allison President Dr. Ian Sutherland: “Grace Annie Lockhart’s historic achievement did not happen in Oxford, London, Toronto, or Ottawa: it happened in Sackville, New Brunswick. In the 150 years since, women from Mount Allison have continued to shape history and change the world.”

Feeling a bit like a lost seed this week ~ where was PSC?? They’ve been in the shadows too, as R.P. Bell was getting some sprucing up. Poor Vinny had to keep his eyes peeled on the plant campers in the dark and without his rooted support staff!

We’ll see you next week for more illuminating adventures 🌱 🏕️ 🪴
