Notice to Students: The Town of SBJF has secured limited funding for a student project and invites applications. Submissions can be made in person at the Town Office or via email to [email protected]. The application deadline is June 18, 2026. Due to the limited funding, which only permits one student position for six weeks, the Town will consider alternatives, including potentially hiring two students for a duration of three weeks. The Town would like to extend its gratitude to our Member of the House of Assembly, Paul Pike, for facilitating this opportunity.

P**p bags are now placed at big pond by the garden can leading to the fire pit. Please use the bags and clean up after your pets. This will not be tolerated and cameras are put back in the area and if caught there will be consequences to your choices. Council thanks everyone in their understanding on this matter.

Notice to the public

It has come to the attention of council once again of dog owners not cleaning up after their pets at Big Pond. This is NOT a dog park it is for the residents of the surrounding towns to go and enjoy a day at the pond. We encourage people to bring their fur babies along but please clean up after them. It adds to the extra work of the maintenance staff to keep it clean when they shouldn’t have too. If this continues dogs will not be allowed at the grass ground or the beach area. Just put yourself in the shoes of other parents would you want your children playing around p**p. Council will be putting p**p bags at the pond for people to use. Please use a bit of caution when using the pond area due to this post. Thank you.

Good evening. First off we would like to thank the ladies of the Recreation Committee Kathy Hackett Diana Kendall Tracy Hynes and Pammy Harris for coming and meeting this evening. We would also like to thank them for their willingness and hard work over the years to help keep recreation for our kids alive here in the town. They have made a great success in getting a lot of pieces of equipment for the playground and for continuing the up keep of the ball field and rink. We are sad to say that they feel that it’s time for them to step away and for us to form a new committee. If anyone is willing to help form a new committee please reach out to Edison at 709-276-0762 or by messenger. Once again thank you to the previous team.

Notice to residents.

Please be advised that if any resident are building anywhere on their property to please have council come and check out the area before any work is done. It may seem small but if there are water or sewer lines there you will be asked to move whatever building you are erecting. This has become a common problem here in the town and council would please like for residents to obey this policy.
If anyone has any questions or concerns please reach out to anyone of the councillors. The town clerk has nothing to do with this matter and can only be approved by council. Going forward no one will be issued a permit until it is passed at a regular council meeting and if the work has started before that the resident may be asked to remove the structure. Council apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.
