Honey Bees and other pollinators around the world including over 800 species of native bees in Canada, butterflies, bats and hummingbirds, are increasingly under threat from human activities.

Pollination is an important process for the survival of ecosystems. It is estimated that nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend, entirely, or at in part, on pollination, along with more than 75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of agriculture. Pollinators play a very important role in food security and biodiversity.

In 2017, the UN designated May 20th (today) as World Bee Day to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they face and their contribution to sustainable development. The goal is to strengthen measures aimed at protecting bees and other pollinators.

After a slow start to the Spring, our bees have finally started producing honey. We have just harvested some fresh, Pure, Raw, Unpasteurized Honey from our Apiary! We have light honey available for sale ($10 for 500gr and $18 for 1kg). We are located at 373 Martindale Road, St. Catharines. We also still have some of our Dark Honey for Sale ($10 for 500gr and $18 for 1kg).

Darker-colored honey comes with a flavor profile that is more intense and is richer compared to lighter honey. Dark honey also has more nutrients, vitamins, and antioxidants due to the presence of different substances that make it dark. Here's a very informative link that explains the difference between light and dark honey.

We also have our Pure, Raw Creamed honey (regular, lemon infused and cinnamon infused) available for $10 each.

We stock our self-serve stand daily (weather permitting) but feel free to message us and we can put some aside for you
