Mayor Mat Siscoe and City staff recently had the opportunity to step aboard the Algoma Harvester for an immersive visit with Algoma Central Corporation.
Headquartered in St. Catharines, Algoma has played an important role in Canada’s marine transportation sector for more than a century. Their work helps move essential commodities through the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence region and connects industries, communities, and markets across Canada and beyond.
The visit offered a behind-the-scenes look at the people, operations, and innovation that support Algoma’s fleet and help keep marine supply chains moving.
For the City’s Economic Development team, it was also a reminder of the important role St. Catharines plays in the marine economy. With the Welland Canal in our backyard and companies like Algoma headquartered here, our city continues to be a place where marine expertise, skilled talent, logistics, and innovation come together.
