Nearly a decade ago, Vision Coaching’s Pete Stoddart was part of a conversation that he still thinks about today.

An organization was preparing to promote an employee into an interim CEO role when several executives suggested providing executive coaching to help that person succeed.

At the time, Pete didn't fully appreciate the significance of that suggestion. Today, having experienced coaching himself and become an executive coach, he sees it differently.

In his latest blog, Pete shares why coaching can be such a meaningful investment in promising leaders and what it communicates about an organization's belief in their potential.

What could AI make possible for the future of coaching skills development?

That's what Dave Veale and Pete Stoddart set out to explore through TechImpact's Digital Boost 3.0 program!

They wanted to find out whether AI could provide an effective environment for people to practise their coaching skills. The answer was yes, and that led to a partnership with Northbound Advisory to create the Vision Coaching Lab.

A recent Fast Company article explores why even the strongest performers can struggle when they take on greater leadership responsibilities.

The skills that made someone successful in their previous role may no longer be enough. They're navigating new expectations, making difficult decisions and learning to lead others, often while feeling pressure to appear confident.

The author shares how having an executive coach gave her a space to be honest about those challenges, receive feedback and develop the skills she needed.

If everyone comes to you for the answer, what happens when you stop giving it to them?

That’s one of the ideas Vision coach Jeff Green will explore at the 2026 CPHR Atlantic HR Conference in Saint John this October.

Jeff brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to his session, Stop Being the Answer Centre: A Coach Approach for Modern HR Leaders.

For HR professionals, being the expert can come with pressure to solve problems, offer advice and have the answer ready. Jeff will explore another option: asking stronger questions, creating space for reflection and helping others take greater ownership of decisions and solutions.

As leaders find more ways to use AI, there’s another question worth asking: What shouldn’t we delegate?

A recent Harvard Business Review article looks at how a series of small handoffs to AI can gradually affect three qualities that matter deeply in leadership: judgment, voice and presence.

AI can summarize, organize and help leaders work more efficiently. But there are also moments when people need to hear a leader’s own words, see their judgment at work or have their direct presence in the room.

The challenge is knowing the difference.

Sometimes the right opportunity finds its way back to you.

Years ago, beloved late Vision coach Bruce McLeod encouraged Mandy Burke Evans to pursue her Professional Certified Coach credential and eventually consider joining Vision Coaching.

Later, Vision coach Marilyn Orr encouraged her again.

Now, the timing is right.

We’re delighted to welcome Mandy to our roster of coaches. With more than 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur, executive and community builder, she brings business insight, empathy and a deep curiosity about how people grow and change.

As Mandy puts it, “Sometimes things are meant to be. It just wasn’t the right time before.”

Using the Coach Approach began, in part, with one question Vision Coaching CEO Dave Veale wasn’t expecting.

Years ago, Dave had just come off a rocky attempt to acquire another company’s coach training program. During a conversation with his own coach, Barb, she asked what was stopping Vision Coaching from building something of its own instead.

Dave didn’t have a good answer. He simply hadn’t let himself ask the question.

That conversation helped spark what would eventually become one of Vision Coaching’s flagship programs, Using the Coach Approach.

It’s a great example of what can happen when someone creates the space for an honest conversation. Good coaching doesn’t guarantee comfort. It creates enough safety to say what you’re really thinking, challenge assumptions and stay engaged when the questions get difficult.

Kelly VanBuskirk’s relationship with coaching goes all the way back to Vision Coaching’s earliest days.

As one of the first professionals Dave Veale coached, Kelly experienced firsthand what it was like to have an objective person help him examine his strengths, work through questions and identify opportunities to improve.

Today, as Principal of VanBuskirk Law, he’s taken that experience much further.

One-to-One Executive Coaching is available to anyone at the firm who needs it, giving team members confidential access to an independent coach. The firm also participates in High-Performance Team Coaching, helping its accomplished lawyers strengthen collaboration and work more effectively together.

Chief of Staff Sarah Brooke has seen the difference that can make for a team of high performers, particularly when it comes to breaking down silos and understanding how colleagues think and work differently.
