Bibliothèque publique de Saint John Free Public Library Bright and spacious, with modern library services and facilities, the Central Branch library has a capacity of 240,000 books.

It also serves as headquarters for the Saint John Regional Library, encompassing eight other libraries in Southern New Brunswick. Appropriately, the official opening of the current location took place on the 200th anniversary of the landing of the city's Loyalist founders who endowed the city with the literary heritage it sustains through its library services. rary consists of this Central Branch and two satellite branches. West Branch, the first mall library in the Maritimes, opened in Lancaster Mall in 1967. Its initial annual circulation of 58,193 increased to over 100,000. East Branch opened in 1968 in Loch Lomond Mall with 5000 books and 1925 patrons. It moved to its current location in Westmorland Place in 1973, where it offers over 26,000 items, including a large talking book collection, to 6300 patrons.

Important announcement: The Teen Book Club at the Saint John Free Public Library Main Branch will now be meeting on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 3:45pm starting on September 10. (And there will be snacks!)

For our meeting on Thursday September 10 at 3:45pm, we will be discussing “The Marrow Thieves” by Cherie Dimaline. Paper copies are now available to borrow at the Circulation desk, and ebook & audio book copies are available through the Libby app. Register in person, by phone at 506-643-7236 or by email at [email protected]. *Program presented in English.

☀🕶 Our Teen Summer Reading Challenge is ending on Saturday, August 22, but there's still time to pick up a booklet to complete at least one challenge or come participate in a library program.

If you picked up a booklet and completed at least one challenge this summer then stop by the Reference desk on the 2nd floor of the Saint John Free Public Library Main Branch to enter our prize draw! You may enter your name between August 23-29 and please bring your booklet with you to be eligible.

We hope you had a fantastic summer at the Saint John Free Public Library Main Branch! We look forward to still seeing you in the fall!
