We’ve been showing photos of the water levels, but we need to share the positive in all this. Yesterday the call for help came out and it was answered. The people that showed up to help fill sand bags, double up tiger dams, and pump water was nothing short of amazing! Thank you guys. You really pulled through when your community and neighbours needed you!

Folks, please stay out of the flooded area!!! The river is rising fast. The roads are getting dangerous, and resources are spread thin and our fire department is exhausted, if a vehicle gets swept away, we will all be in a terrible situation. we’ll put some photos on here for people to see what’s going on instead of going out there.

Every once in a while, Mother Nature likes to tap us on the shoulder and remind us who’s really in charge.

This past week has been eventful, stressful, and at times filled with uncertainty. After the powerful storm that impacted our neighbours in Saskatchewan and moved across Manitoba, the resulting flood waters eventually made their way here. With the convergence of the Assiniboine and Qu’Appelle Rivers, water levels rose quickly and kept many of us on edge.

But our community faced it head-on.

Friends, neighbours, volunteers, municipal staff, and emergency responders all stepped up to help one another, demonstrating exactly what makes this community so special. The teamwork, support, and willingness to lend a hand were nothing short of outstanding. You should all be proud of what was accomplished.

While we’re certainly on the winning side of this event and water levels are slowly beginning to recede, we’re not quite ready to break out the champagne or remove the Tiger Dams just yet. We remain in a delicate high-water situation, and any significant rainfall could quickly change conditions.

For now, though, take a moment to appreciate what we’ve accomplished together. Thank you to everyone who helped, supported their neighbours, followed the updates, and contributed in any way. Once again, this community has shown what can be achieved when people come together.

Well done, everyone, and thank you. Stay safe, keep an eye on the weather, waters, and continue looking out for one another.
