🚧 Pijeboogwek Parking Lot Closure 🚧

From August 17 to September 18, the Pijeboogwek parking lot will be closed while improvement work is underway.

Where to park :

🚗 Short visits: Please use the Visitor Information Centre parking lot.

🚴 Longer visits, including several hours of cycling: Please park along the service road behind the Visitor Information Centre, at the Pines or Beaver trail parking lots along the Parkway, or at the Footbridge parking lot on the north side of the park.

The Pijeboogwek area will remain accessible throughout the project. Please follow any temporary signage and directions while visiting.

✨ See the Perseids under Kouchibouguac's dark skies!

Kouchibouguac National Park, recognized as a Dark-Sky Preserve by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, is the perfect place to experience one of the year's most spectacular meteor showers.

📅 August 12 and 13 at 10 p.m.

Join park interpreters for one of two special Perseid viewing programs at Kellys Beach. Meet at the Kellys Canteen and bring a red-light flashlight.

☁️ The program will take place rain or shine, and a guided night walk will be offered even if meteors aren't visible.

🌌 Prefer to explore on your own? La Source, Callanders and Kellys Beach are all excellent locations for stargazing.

🔦 Use red lights only
🧥 Dress for cooler evening temperatures
✨ Give your eyes time to adjust to the darkness

Kouchibouguac National Park is proud to partner with CBC to present Rooted, a free screening series celebrating First Nations, Inuit and Métis stories.

Join us on August 8 at the South Kouchibouguac Campground for an evening of inspiring Indigenous storytelling:

Did you know Kouchibouguac National Park offers special interpretive programs for young explorers and their families?

While children are welcome at all our programs, some are designed especially for kids.

Through fun games, outdoor activities, and hands-on discovery, they'll explore nature while asking questions and making observations.

🐻 Why are bears so active this time of year?

As summer progresses, black bears begin preparing for hyperphagia, an intense feeding period that starts in late summer and continues into the fall.

They spend much of their day searching for food and building the fat reserves they need to survive the winter.

Help keep bears wild:

✅ Store food and scented items securely
✅ Keep campsites and picnic areas clean
✅ Dispose of garbage properly
✅ Give bears plenty of space

🚫 Feeding wildlife is prohibited. Bears that find human food may return looking for more, putting people, pets, and wildlife at risk.

💚 Thank you for helping and keeping our parks safe and enjoyable for all.
