ICE CANCELLATION NOTICE - OCTOBER 14

The ice at the Garcelon Civic Center will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 14 for a maintenance repair. All ice bookings during this time are cancelled.

Bookings after 3 p.m., including practices and the County Moose game, will proceed as normal.

Over the coming weeks, councillors will share times when residents can stop by the municipal office for an informal conversation with their elected representatives.

These office hours offer an opportunity to share ideas, discuss matters with the councillor responsible for a portfolio of interest, and learn more about municipal programs and initiatives.

Our first office hours will be with Councillor Morgan:

ROAD WORK UPDATE - 10/7/2026

The project is expected to be complete by Friday, October 16th, 2026. Here is what is planned for the final days:

10/7 - Wednesday: Paving Victoria Street; applying topsoil and fixing driveways on newly paved roads.

10/8 - Thursday: Paving Chipman Street and Prince William Street (where it has been milled).

No work over Thanksgiving Weekend

10/13 - Tuesday: Work on King Street railway crossing and driveways; Line Painting Union Street and Prince William

10/14 - Wednesday: Schoodic Driveways

10/15 - Thursday: Hydroseeding all placed topsoil

10/16 - Friday: Finishing Hydroseeding

What residents should know:

• Expect occasional delays in construction areas

• Watch for road closures, detours, and flaggers

• No street parking in construction areas

• Allow extra travel time when possible

• Follow posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel

It is important to note that the roads selected for work in 2026 were not intended to be a complete list of infrastructure needs within our community. We recognize that additional roads require attention, and we have plans in place to continue investing in road and infrastructure improvements in the years ahead.

Roads and sidewalks were identified by residents as one of the highest priorities for our community, and we are excited to continue making these investments that improve safety, accessibility, and quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.

FERRY POINT BRIDGE CLOSURE NOTICE

Please be advised that the St. Stephen-Calais International Bridge (Ferry Point) will be closed for repairs from October 13 to December 4, 2026.

During the closure, please use one of the alternate border crossings in St. Stephen:

• Milltown Crossing: 9 am-5 pm AST

• St. Stephen 3rd Bridge: Open 24 hours

Please plan your route accordingly and allow extra travel time.

Please join the solemn walk at Indian Point beginning at 12:00 noon, followed by drumming and smudging. Wear orange as we listen, learn and reflect together in the spirit of truth, healing and reconciliation.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Garcelon Civic Center Elevator is Out of Service

UPDATE 9/28: Please be aware that the elevator at the Garcelon Civic Center is currently out of service due to an unexpected mechanical issue that did cause, and may continue to cause, passengers to become temporarily trapped, not due to a permit issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide another update as soon as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 9/25: We would like to remind our users that unfortunately our elevator is still out of service and apologize for any inconvenience that causes during tonight's County Moose hockey game.

Due to an ongoing strike involving the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 125, elevator maintenance and repair services are experiencing disruptions across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. As a result, we are unable to confirm when the elevator will be operational again.

If you require the elevator to access the facility, please call 506-466-7700 before your visit to confirm whether it is available.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will provide another update as soon as more information becomes available.
