While the services we provide may look different from team to team, what connects them all is a shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of our communities.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this campaign. Together, you are the people behind public health 💙

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is observed annually on August 31, bringing communities together to remember those lost to overdose, support those who grieve, and raise awareness about overdose prevention.

Leading up to IOAD, the Oxford Mental Health and Addictions Action Coalition (OMHAAC) invites community members to attend local events across Oxford County:

📍Museum Square, Woodstock | Aug. 25 | 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
📍Operation Sharing, Woodstock | Aug. 26 | 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
📍Tillsonburg Mall | Aug. 27 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Together, we can help reduce stigma, increase awareness, and support our community.

Our Mobile Oral Health Clinic had a great time connecting with children, youth and families at the Ignite Youth Centre’s Back to School Market in St. Thomas.
It was wonderful to join our community partners, Ignite Youth Centre and Thames Valley District School Board in helping families get ready for the school year and improving access to oral health care across our region.

The People of SWPH 💙

Southwestern Public Health is guided by strong leadership from our Chief Executive Officer Cynthia St. John and Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ninh Tran.

In collaboration with the Board of Health, they set the strategic vision and direction for the organization to ensure SWPH remains accountable to its communities, governing bodies, and partners. Their confidence in staff and dedication to public health drives progress toward priorities that strengthen population health, service excellence, and organizational resilience.

What motivates them most is the opportunity to support the people behind public health- the staff, partners, and communities whose collective efforts drive meaningful impact across the region.

Their optimism for the future comes from the strength of those relationships and a shared commitment to building healthier, more resilient communities.

Thank you to Minister Michael Parsa and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services for inviting us to speak at AMO about iHEAL – an innovative program and research project that supports women experiencing intimate partner violence.

Delivered alongside Western University’s academic team, iHEAL has supported more than 100 women in its first nine months, secured more than 90 community partnerships, and is helping address service gaps in providing safety and healing for women and families experiencing intimate partner violence.

We believe iHEAL strongly aligns with MCCSS’s focus on women’s safety, equality and well-being, while addressing the longer-term health impacts of gender-based violence. We appreciate your interest in this important work, Minister Parsa.
