𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗲𝘀 is a travelling interactive exhibit on loan from 𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, developed in cooperation with 𝗡𝗔𝗩 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗗𝗔, bringing the world of Canadian air traffic control down to ground level.

🏛️✨ 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆

In celebration of Museum Month, we’re introducing the passionate team at the Elgin County Museum who work every day to preserve and share the stories that make our community unique.

📚𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿
Madeleine joined Elgin County in 2021 and holds both a Master of Museum Studies and a Master of Information (Archives and Records Management) from the University of Toronto.

Her love of museums began when she was just seven years old, and she has been volunteering and working in museums ever since. Madeleine is passionate about connecting people with local history and ensuring community stories are preserved for future generations.

🎨 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁
Ally has been part of the Elgin County Museum team for nine years and brings nearly two decades of experience working in art and cultural institutions across Elgin County.

With a background in Visual and Digital Arts and Museum Management & Curatorship, Ally developed a fascination with local history while growing up near Port Burwell. Stories such as the Malahide Mystery and the Stalter’s Gully Ghost inspired her lifelong interest in uncovering the legends and history of our region.

🏺𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗰𝗔𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲, 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁
Childhood visits to museums and galleries sparked Brianna’s interest in history, art, and the stories objects can tell.

With post-secondary education in Fine Art and Museum Management & Curatorship, Brianna enjoys caring for artifacts, researching their origins, and helping communities connect with their shared heritage.

🎓 𝗗𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁
Duke is currently completing his undergraduate degree in Museum and Curatorial Studies at Western University.

Working at the Elgin County Heritage Centre gives him the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the museum field while deepening his appreciation for local history.

We had a fantastic time at the Thames Valley Social Studies Fair at Fanshawe Pioneer Village last Friday!
We brought along some mystery artifacts for students to investigate as part of our Museum Mystery Challenge. Students put their observation skills to the test, guessing what unusual objects from the past may have been used for.
With May being , there’s no better time to explore local museums, discover hidden stories, and connect with our shared heritage! ❤️🏛️
