Pride celebrations continue this week at STEGH! We asked members of our team: What does Pride mean to you? Their thoughtful responses are proudly displayed on bright pink boards in the hospital - a vibrant reflection of inclusion, respect, and belonging in our space.

Now we’d love to hear from you: What does Pride mean to you? We invite respectful and supportive comments below. To ensure this remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone, commenting may be turned off if needed. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Last week, the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) announced that Dr. Andrew Park has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective June 18, 2026.

Dr. Park is an emergency physician at STEGH and a recognized leader in health care across Ontario. In addition to his clinical work at STEGH, he previously served as President of the OMA and has long been an advocate for physicians and patient care.

With strong leadership and a commitment to “doctors speaking for doctors,” Dr. Park will guide the OMA through this transitional period. His appointment reflects the trust and respect he’s built over his career.

On behalf of STEGH, we extend our sincere congratulations to Dr. Park on this appointment. We are so proud to see one of our physicians recognized for his leadership and expertise at the provincial level.

We were honoured to come together at STEGH yesterday to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day in advance of June 21.

Staff, patients, and visitors gathered to share in a meaningful day of culture, connection, and celebration - enjoying traditional dancing, powerful drumming, and delicious food prepared by Candice’s Catering.

A heartfelt thank you to our honoured guests who made the day so special:

- Crazy Spirit Men’s Drumming Group (Sarnia)
- Andria Dyer (Jingle Dress Dancer/Singer)
- MacKenzie Nolan-Summers (Miss Oneida 2025/26)
- Zaidis Deleary (Hand Drummer/Singer)

We also extend our thanks to Kare Bear’s Creations for sharing their beautiful handmade items.

It was a joyful and meaningful celebration. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us to honour Indigenous culture, traditions, and community.

Gratitude in full bloom today! A heartfelt thank you to St. Hilda’s-St Luke’s Anglican Church, St. Thomas and Rotary Club of St. Thomas - Canada for hosting your annual Heroes Lunch in appreciation of our incredible staff, physicians, and volunteers.

Our teams were all smiles as they enjoyed a delicious summertime BBQ and a wonderful spread of homemade sweets.

We are truly grateful for your generosity and for taking the time to recognize our healthcare heroes. It means so much to all of us!

Happy Pride Month! At STEGH, everyone is welcome - patients, staff, and our community. We are committed to creating a space where all people feel safe, respected, and valued for who they are.

Myth Buster: Trans and gender-diverse people have always existed- across cultures, around the world, and throughout history. Being trans or gender diverse is not a “fad.” When someone shares who they truly are, we all have an opportunity to return that trust with respect, kindness, and support.

We’re excited to celebrate Pride Week at STEGH next week. Stay tuned to our socials for highlights and photos!

Seeing Red for Heart & Stroke Month! Today our teams showed up in style, rocking their best RED to support Heart & Stroke Month!

A big shoutout to our Continuing Care Centre team, who took top honours and sweetened their win with cookies for their breaks today. Yum!

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped raise awareness. Your support makes a difference.

We were also excited to welcome Morgan from the Southwestern Ontario Stroke Network, who spent time onsite sharing education and raising awareness with our teams and visitors.

And let’s not forget our step challenge superstar… Congratulations to Savannah, Occupational Therapist, who stepped it up with an incredible 80,791 steps in just the first 7 days of the month! (And yes, she was proudly wearing red today too! Amazing participation all around!

We’re so grateful for community partnerships that help make a meaningful difference for our patients.

Thanks to our ongoing partnership with the Elgin County Library, gently used and discarded books are finding a new home in our Recreation Therapy department where they’re shared with patients to enjoy and escape into a good story.

In this photo, Sandra is all smiles as she receives some of the newest books. She generously gave us permission to share her moment and we think it perfectly captures the joy these simple gifts can bring.

A big thank-you to Elgin County Library for helping us turn pages into moments of comfort and connection.
