⏰The CSRD Board has agreed to adopt Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6) as the time zone for Electoral Area A (Rural Golden).

➡️ The decision comes after the Town of Golden reconsidered a previous decision to adopt Pacific Time (UTC-7) on September 22, 2026.

Electoral Area A Director Karen Cathcart emphasized the importance of alignment with neighbouring jurisdictions in the Town of Golden and the Regional District of East Kootenays (RDEK). It will also align the clocks with Alberta, rather than the rest of BC.

🔷 The change will see the end of semi-annual clock changes in Electoral Area A, with the region remaining permanently on Mountain Daylight Time. There will be no time change for residents of Golden and Electoral Area A this fall.

➡️ The remainder of the CSRD will also not change the clocks this fall and will remain permanently on Pacific Time (UTC-7), which is one hour earlier than Electoral Area A and the Town of Golden. On November 1, 2026, when previously clocks would have been turned back an hour, no change will be made.

Don’t miss out! This is your last weekend for 🌱 FREE YARD WASTE DISPOSAL! 🌱

Tidy up your yard for fall and save money while you do it. Until October 18, 2026, you can drop off yard and garden waste for FREE at all CSRD Landfill and Transfer Station locations.

Some municipalities are also offering free curbside collection,check your local government’s website for details.

🗳️Residents can find information on preliminary election results from around the region on the CSRD website on Saturday night after ballots have been counted. 🗳️

➡️ On General Local Election Night, October 17, 2026, the CSRD will be posting preliminary election results for Electoral Areas B, D, E and F, as well as assent votes in Electoral Area E regarding the funding of the Malakwa Learning Centre and the Cambie Hall.

⏰ All polls close at 8 PM (local time). Counting ballots in the CSRD is done manually, rather than by electronic methods, so you may have to stay up past your usual bedtime!

Three candidates have already been declared elected by acclamation:

🔷 Karen Cathcart in Electoral Area A (Rural Golden)
🔷 Marty Gibbons in Electoral Area C (Eagle Bay, Sunnybrae, Tappen, White Lake)
🔷 Natalya Melnychuk in Electoral Area G (Blind Bay, Sorrento, Notch Hill)

Preliminary results are based on the ballot accounts prepared at each of the voting places and are subject to determination of official election results by the Chief Election Officer.

🚰 A water leak in the Cedar Heights Water System was not fully repaired yesterday and repairs will continue today. The CSRD anticipates that the leak will be fixed by this evening.

➡️ As a result, water users will have their water service turned off until repairs are complete. The size of the water outage area has also been enlarged, as shown on the map.

• Area D: Gardom Lake Bible Camp, 651 Glenmary Rd, Enderby, from 2:30–5:30 PM
• Area F: Don Fink Community Park, 1155 Abbott Rd, Seymour Arm, from 11 AM–1 PM

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Secwépemc Landmarks team were notified by one of the project partners that the Tappen Bluffs sculpture is missing. Both the stone sculpture (about 700 pounds) and the metalwork sculpture (about 200 pounds) were removed.

The CSRD is a funding partner to the Secwépemc Landmarks project.

To repair a water leak, we’ll need to temporarily shut off water in a small area of Ta-Lana Trail and Hopes Way today, October 13. The outage is expected from 9am to 5pm. Please see the map below for details.
