Last weekend the Army Cadets from Salmon Arm, Revelstoke, Merritt, and Enderby joined forces for their annual October Field Training Exercise!

Not only did the cadets get to hone in on their bushcraft skills but were joined by members of their affiliated unit The Rocky Mountain Rangers from Kamloops who shared a wealth of knowledge about camouflage and concealment!

We were also fortunate to have a visit from the Royal Canadian Marine - Search and Rescue Shuswap out of Sicamous who shared with us just how essential their service is to our communities on Shuswap lake.

Thank you so much to both groups! Not sure how we are going to top this next year. 😅

Did you know that Army Cadets is free to join? If you are between the ages of 12 & 18, why not come and see what we are all about.

Thank you The Rocky Mountain Rangers and Royal Canadian Marine Search & Rescue Station 106 - Shuswap

Last night we had the honour of hosting Cdr Seaby the new Commanding Officer of RCSU Pacific (Regional Cadet Support Unit Pacific) with CWO Shultz for his very first visit to a cadet corps or squadron.

It was a great opportunity to show him how dedicated the smaller communities corps are.

Congratulations to WO Veronica Nichols on receiving the Commanding Officer RCSU Pacific Challenge Coin and to all our cadets and staff who work together to bring such an amazing program to life!

It was great to see 1787 RCACC represented at the Zone Marksmanship competition today after several years of being absent.

We may not have made the top 3, but the Cadets are still winners to us. The skills they have learned over the past few months will last a lifetime. Not only does marksmanship teach safety around fi****ms but more importantly discipline, focus and self control.

On Saturday we went to Enderby where we joined the Revelstoke & Enderby Cadets for a fantastic day of learning in the snow!

Together we learned how to snowshoe, safely operate stoves and lanterns in cold weather, and correctly set up a five-person bell tent. To put out skills to the test, cadets participated in a winter scavenger hunt across Enderby while wearing snowshoes and pulling a toboggan loaded with equipment.

If you are between the ages of 12 & 18 It’s never too late to join us on Monday nights!
