There is no power greater than a community discovering what it cares about.
Ask “What’s possible?” not “What’s wrong?” Keep asking.
Notice what you care about.
Assume that many others share your dreams.
Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters.
Talk to people you know.
Talk to people you don’t know.
Talk to people you never talk to.
Be intrigued by the differences you hear.
Expect to be surprised.
Treasure curiosity more than certainty.
Invite in everybody who cares to work on what’s possible.
Acknowledge that everyone is an expert about something.
Know that creative solutions come from new connections.
Remember, you don’t fear people whose story you know.
Real listening always brings people closer together.
Trust that meaningful conversations can change the world.
Rely on human goodness. Stay together.

In this timely piece, Otto Scharmer has gently brought the nature of how the "self-idea" we have of ourselves shapes - and mis-shapes - the world.
I loved the way he suggests that the abyss is telling us something. If one's understanding of "self" and consciousness is systemic and field-attentive, then his words are not merely metaphoric.
In talking about "closing the feeedback loop" he is suggesting that we need not be traumatised any longer - trauma being understood as the interrupting of a process ie: not closing the loop.
These are some of the elements that a 21st century psychological and psychospiritual sensibility surely has to make central to its institutional framing.
And, i feel, are called forth from a world hungry for meaning and yet for whom the previous frameworks no longer apply. These are the types of things we need to be saying very clearly in every forum.

The Lost Words Blessing

Enter the wild with care, my love
And speak the things you see
Let new names take and root and thrive and grow
And even as you travel far from heather, crag and river
May you like the little fisher, set the stream alight with glitter
May you enter now as otter without falter into water

Look to the sky with care, my love
And speak the things you see
Let new names take and root and thrive and grow
And even as you journey on past dying stars exploding
Like the gilded one in flight, leave your little gifts of light
And in the dead of night my darling, find the gleaming eye of starling
Like the little aviator, sing your heart to all dark matter

Walk through the world with care, my love
And sing the things you see
Let new names take and root and thrive and grow
And even as you stumble through machair sands eroding
Let the fern unfurl your grieving, let the heron still your breathing
Let the selkie swim you deeper, oh my little silver-seeker
Even as the hour grows bleaker, be the singer and the speaker
And in city and in forest, let the larks become your chorus
And when every hope is gone, let the raven call you home

Very touched to have this piece in the CPA-NA newsletter. Thanks to Jenni Silverstein for picking up on a ramble posting I made to the email group and helping this to happen.

Mark Skelding calls to question the Victorian era assumptions that shape psychotherapy, and postulates a new story of human-ness that is emergent, dynamic, and interwoven within the complex living systems of this planet.

Heres the Invitation to a complementary "Introducing...." evening at the local library. I hope some of you will come along.

Psychosynthesis has been called a “Psychology with a Soul” because it approaches aliveness as a living, daily experience available to each of us, rather than a nice idea or romantic concept....

Greetings - welcome to this page. Its a landing strip for all sorts of things, news, views and ideas and a place to get a sense of some of the work I do.

You can see who I am, where I am, and how my understanding of psychosynthesis is applied for personal and collective well-being.

If you'd like too get a deeper sense of that, check out the website (which I'm trying to make more phone friendly as we speak!!) or, if you'd like a bit of a read, see some pieces on Academia - https://www.academia.edu/48904006/On_Equilibrium_People_Patterns_and_Psychosphere
