”Play On! An Acting Workshop for Beginners”

Have you ever wanted to try acting but weren’t sure where to begin? Whether you’ve never stepped on stage before or you’re looking to strengthen your fundamentals, this workshop is designed to help you build confidence in a fun, supportive environment.

This session will explore the foundations of “truthful” acting. You’ll learn how to truly listen and respond in the moment, use your imagination and physical choices to create believable characters, discover how a character’s objectives drive dramatic action, and apply these skills in both improvised and scripted scenes. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for one of acting’s most important ideas: acting is truthful behaviour under imaginary circumstances.

If you’ve always been curious about acting but felt intimidated by auditions or worried about having “no experience,” this is the perfect place to start. Come play, take a few creative risks, meet new people, and discover just how much fun acting can be!

We are so excited to welcome back Dr. Sara Joy to lead this music workshop! We know her expertise in the areas of vocal music and music education will be a huge asset to any performer! In this session, we will be working on vocal technique and health, as well as working through exercises to gain and refine skills in harmony work, blending, and ensemble singing. If you have singing experience and want to brush up on your technical skills, or learn more about certain areas of music (including how to read sheet music!), we definitely have something for you in this workshop!
