Today marks the official retirement of Andy Mitchell after more than 13 years with Sentry Fire and an incredible 40-year career in the fire sprinkler industry.

Andy joined our team on February 15, 2013, and quickly became an integral part of our organization. As many know him, "Sprinkler Andy" played a key role in helping build our Sprinkler Division from the ground up. His experience, dedication, work ethic, and commitment to quality have left a lasting impact on our company and the many people he worked alongside throughout his career.

Last night, we were proud to celebrate this incredible milestone with Andy, his family, friends, and colleagues. It was a wonderful evening filled with stories, laughter, and appreciation for a career well spent.

Forty years in the fire sprinkler industry is an extraordinary achievement. Andy's knowledge, mentorship, and professionalism have helped shape the careers of countless individuals and contributed to the success of many projects throughout his career.

Andy, thank you for your years of service, your leadership, and your contributions to Sentry Fire and the fire protection industry. While you will be greatly missed, we wish you nothing but happiness, good health, and many exciting adventures in retirement.

Fire Prevention Week 2025

October 5-11 marks Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” With lithium-ion batteries becoming more common in the devices we use every day, it’s important to understand how to use and charge them safely to reduce the risk of fires or explosions.

Charge into Fire Safety: 3 Steps
Buy only listed products. When buying a product that uses a lithium-ion battery look for a safety certification mark such as CSA. This means it meets important safety standards.

Charge devices safely. Always use the cords that came with the product to charge. Follow the instructions from the manufacturer. Buy new chargers from the manufacturer or one that the manufacturer has approved. Charge your device on a hard surface. Don’t overcharge your device. Unplug it or remove the battery when it’s fully charged.

Recycle batteries responsibly. Don’t throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash or regular recycling bins because they could start a fire. Recycle your device or battery at a safe battery recycling location
